You'd think after last night, Xander would be sleeping in, and he did try, but he woke sometime long before he felt really rested. Rather than stare at the ceiling until it was a decent hour to call...people, he got up, showered, and did stuff that wouldn't wake anybody up who wasn't already awake

The desk clerk was kind enough to transfer Isabel's call to the phone in Xander's room.

The phone that rang wasn't the one he was listening for - it just...rang, instead of playing a Simon and Garfunkel song, for one thing - but Xander picked it up anyway.

"Bridge?"

Bit of a one-track mind at the moment, yes.

"Umm..no," Isabel said. "Just me. Hi stranger." And then she thought about the dates on the emails and Xander's latest message. "It's Isabel."

He relaxed a little, and a smile spread across his face. That wasn't a voice he was likely to forget, even without having heard another version of it since the last time he'd talked to her. "Hey, roomie."

And boy, did just saying those words feel strange, wrong and right at the same time.
