s2s legacy challenge: Turpentine Legacy, gen 1.0

Mar 25, 2010 21:56

I know this legacy is supposed to be told in "story" format, but I think I'm going to do a mix of that and regular commentary style, because if I have to type the whole thing as a story these things will never get posted, because it will start to feel like my development of western civilization homework, and I like to put that off as long as I can.

I wanted to make this first post really pretty, and show some of the story I had planned out. But, I've had these pictures in my printscreen folder for almost a month, and I figured I should just post them before it's too late!

quick info: This is the sims 2 supernova legacy challenge, using the sims 2. I will be using only pixel_trade sims in this legacy. And I'll be following the rules of both of those challenges.

without further delay, the legacy:

"I'm not much of a talker, so I won't take too long explaining.. My name is Helm Turpentine, and I'm starting over.. starting my life from scratch. I've been in trouble with the law for a while, I got mixed in with a bad crowd when I was younger and instead of college, I chose the easy route and took the criminal career track when I found it in the paper.
I did a pretty good job, my boss was impressed by the number of wide-screen TVs I managed to sneak out. But I got reckless, and I didn't see the burglar alarm and it went off, and I got caught pink-handed with a flamingo lamp. Once they searched my apartment and found a lot of things that weren't mine, it was only a matter of time before I was locked away.
I'm a knowledge sim, so I knew what I did was wrong, it was just a matter of learning to feel remorse. The bigger your brain is, the smaller your heart.. in my case anyway. When I listened the other guys in there, ones with kids and wives.. ones who were innocent. I felt my guilt. It was my fault I got there, I had thrown away a life that these guys would (and some had) kill to have back.
Then they came, I'm not supposed to say the company's name, because they insist that this isn't about them, or the money. It's about life. The value, and importance of life.
It was hard to say no to $20,000. That's right, 20,000. And a decent sized piece of land, too. They told me to take that money, and start my life again, as if what I'd done had never happened. I think it's an experiment, they asked a few other guys in the prison to try it too, and they've gone to hospitals, homeless shelters, unemployment agencies, and even to malls and universities to offer people a part in this project.
They're building a new city called Visitera, and it's a place where people can go to start over. A new life, where everyone's a stranger until you say hello and tell them your name. No one knows what you did, no one knows where you've been. You can become who you want to be, without having to fight your reputation. Sure, no one is perfect. This isn't paradise, people will still judge each other, there will still be crime and fights. But at least we can escape from where we were and build ourselves up again. Build ourselves up from nothing into something that we can be proud to leave behind.
I've always been a loner, the quiet, reserved type. I've always been out for myself and my own interests, so with my life, I'm going to do the opposite. I'm going to find a woman to show my wasted heart how to love, to learn to care for a complete stranger, and once she's got me I want to start a family. A big family who's name will last for generations to come, life is precious, even if I never saw it that way before, and I want to use my life to create life."

"This is the house so far.. I know it's nothing fancy, but it turns out 20,000 isn't as much as I thought."

"I didn't even have enough money to put in wood floors.."

"Oh, and another thing; I'm going to be a dancer. Yeah, you heard right. I want to learn to dance. I know what people say about dudes running around in tights and shit, but if those people just looked at what those men can do with their bodies, they'd shut up and appreciate it. Imagine how awesome they must be at woohoo.. Not saying that I roll that way, I'm just saying that with moves like that, any woman will be up all night begging for more."

"I'm pretty proud of the place.. even if it's not so pretty to look at. I can just imagine what it'll look like once I've earned some of my own money to really fix it up."

"As soon as I see that dancer job, I'm taking it."
