Title: It Was Always You
Rating: K
Warnings: None
Summary: Runaway Bride Bella professes her love to Jacob.

A/N: Just so there's no confusion, the Jacob quotes in the middle don't have anything to do with the examples given.

"Jacob! Jacob, please! It's raining." No answer. Bella slumped against the door of the Black house, soaked to the bone. Her carefully applied makeup was now runny and imperfect. She could feel the mascara sliding down her face along with the raindrops - or were they tears? "Jacob?" she tried again, this time knocking harder than before. She knew he was home. "Please? I'm sorry that it took so long. I just…" She just what? Wanted him to forgive her after all that she'd put him through?

"I just want you to know that I love you. More than him. I know that now." Bella sighed, in a resigned sort of way. She had to leave. She had waited too long and he didn't want her anymore, so she had to leave. Bella picked up her train and started to trek back to her car, barefoot. She'd cast her shoes aside when she'd left the Cullen house so she could run to Jacob faster. Bella's foot hit the first step of the porch and the door swung open.

"Do you mean that or is this another one of your games? It's not like I'm threatening to kill myself again, so you don't need to lie." She whirled around, almost tripping on the long dress, or her own feet, and faced him. A scowl. Bella broke inside. At least it fit his bitter voice.

"I'm not lying."

"Why now?"

"I can't give you a good answer. The spell is broken? I finally got some sense? I want to be happy." Bella glanced down and pulled her bottom lip into her mouth, glancing up at Jacob through her eyelashes. "And you make me happy. A real happy though, not a I'm-naturally-addicting happy. But I am addicted to you, but in a good way. And now I'm rambling…" She almost chuckled, but thought better of it. He was staring blankly at her with his hair matted across his forehead, wet from the rain.

"Do you really love me more?"

She nodded. "I do."

"Prove it." Bella thought, thought back to everything. Everything that made her love him. His big smile. Okay. Just Bella and Jacob. None of those freaky Virgo's here. His big heart. I used to run around your house - like I do now. Just making sure you were okay. Kindness that could envelop the whole world. Bella, I love you and I want you to pick me instead of him. His fierce love. Until your heart stops beating Bella. I'll be here - fighting. His selflessness. I'll never see anyone else... I only see you. Even when I close my eyes...

Bella tried to think of a way to convey this to him, but no words on this earth could describe the way she felt. She looked up at Jacob deciding try her best anyway. A smile. That was more fitting on his face. "Why are you smiling?"

"I can see it in your eyes." Jacob took a step forward and placed his arms around her waist. "I love you too, Bells." Bella laid her head against Jacob's chest. She was still a little cold and getting more drenched by the minute. "It's still raining outside. Can we go in? There's make up all over my face."

"You still look beautiful."

"I look horrible."

"You look human." He took her hand and lead her away from the cold.
