Waking up next to Lucy was far from being something new for Ryan. The light that woke him up, though, came streaming in through curtains pulled over glass windows and the bed they lay on wasn't one made on the island. Everything sounded different, felt different, and it only took a couple seconds for him to realize he was back in Newport. After nearly a year and a half away, he was back in the pool house.
It didn't look quite like he remembered, but what was off, he wasn't entirely sure, beyond the fact that somehow, mercifully, Lucy was there with him, several decades and a few thousand miles from her own home. Resting on his elbow, he leaned over to smooth the hair back from her face. "Lucy? Lucy, wake up."
However they'd got here, they were here now. Unless, of course, he was dreaming, which still seemed like a distinct possibility.
