The portal has dropped them off at Forks airport and while Jake could appreciate that it'd been a little cheaper, Jake could have done without the dazed looks as they'd shown up with their bike and bags in the middle of the runway

"You're not getting rid of me that easily," Caroline told him, oblivious to his worries as she shoved a few stray hairs behind her ears. The bike was nice, but she could do without looking like road kill by the time they arrived at his dad's house.
When Caroline heard Billy's initial complaints, she flushed, wondering why she hadn't forced Jake to call ahead. Somehow she'd thought he'd let his dad know when to expect them and already she was a shitty visitor showing up without proper notice.
Still, Jake was on the porch doing the hugging thing and so she slowly picked her way up the steps to join the men. "I'm sorry we didn't call, it totally slipped my mind, but if you need us to run to the grocery we can do that! Also hi, I'm Caroline. It's so good to meet you, Jake has told me...okay well let's be honest, I've forced Jake to tell me so much about you!" If no one interrupted her, she was just going to keep going here.
"He's just teasing. He's probably stocked up for a whole army," Jake reassured her, pulling back from his dad. He took a step back and reached for Caroline's hand, drawing her beside him. "Dad..."
"I'm not deaf, Jacob," Billy assured him. He glanced up for a moment, looking between his son and the vampire he'd brought onto his porch.
"It's good to finally meet you, Caroline," he said after a moment, holding out his hand. It wasn't the most warm of welcomes, but it at least was a welcome.
Caroline flushed a little as he chastised Jake, but there was her hand, taking his to shake. "You too, Mister Black."
Did he have any idea the power he held right then? Because she was kind of ready to die right there if he didn't give some sign of being okay with this.
Billy looked surprised as her hand wasn't icy cold like he expected to be and for a moment he glanced down at her hand in his. "You're really not like the vampires we know, huh?"
"Nope, you can take my pulse and I eat just as much as Jake. But then, the wolves where I'm from are tiny and their bite's like poison to vampires, so it's all really different. Oh, and I don't do the whole biting humans thing if I can avoid it, so you don't have to like, worry about that."
"Either way, I had Dr. Cullen get me some blood supply from the hospital. There's a fridge back in the garage that's set up for you," he told Caroline. "Is there anything else we should discuss before we go ahead and pretend to be normal?"
