I'm not quite sure, whether to process this as a TishaB'av or as a Purim scenario?! If we're living through TbA, then the proper response is to note what was right and no longer is, and to lament the loss; because what appears normal will soon change beyond recognition. That's the approach of this post. If it's Purim, then the question is how could this kind of change possibly turned for good?!
People are told to panic over the virus itself, and many choose to do so. Rather, government response is the reason to be concerned. Bad flu is seasonal, and cultural and institutional damage tends to stay and spread longer. Is it time to panic already? Maybe not yet, but where then would yourself draw the red line, what are your criteria?
