Well, to make a long story short: after an uneventful flight and a slightly more eventful land voyage (more eventful because I had to walk at times), I'm back at American. I greatly love The Count of Monte Cristo, it was quite excellent. But whatever you do, do not ever, ever see the movie. Even though pre-Jesus Jim Caveizel and Guy Pearce are in it, it is not even slightly worth it to spend the time watching this movie. Pure evil. And it's not even just a case of "the book is always better." It's a case of "Wow, this movie fucking sucks. And the book was better."

While the sheep thank you for closing the door, as it's quite drafty, they're afraid the horse has long since departed.

Actually, I liked the movie. I can already tell all the little bits that don't mesh up entirly, and Napoleon is bigger in the book, but I found the movie decent entertainment, albiet adapted for an audience which wanted Dantes to learn aswordfighting instead of philosophy.
