Summary: Luciano Grimaldi was a perfectly happy young wizard. His family carefully neutral during the war, he has found happiness in the years since Voldemort's fall with herbologist, hero, and friend of the Savior, Neville Longbottom. Only he's just been informed that in the tradition of ancient pure blood families, he was promised at birth, in an offering to keep his family safe, to the son of infamous American Death Eater Winston Mayer.
Noah Mayer is a very unhappy wizard. In love for years with fellow Death Eater Draco Malfoy, the two young men have secretly found solace and love in each others arms, dreading the day they knew would come. They are promised, in the traditions of the oldest families. Promised to young wizards who didn't know. Married, for all intents and purposes, almost at birth to strangers who will doubtless hate them. Now they must surrender to duty and obligation. Now they must turn their backs on a love they know and risk everything for what might be. Noah always knew he hated pure blood traditions. This was why.

Chapter 22
Neville groaned as he pressed deeply into Luke and filled him. He stayed like that as the orgasm overcame him, his arms on either side of Luke's chest, shaking, for a long time, reveling in being inside Luke. Desperately afraid of the certainty that this was the last time. He closed his eyes. Noah had said that in some ways it made it worse. Neville hadn't wanted to acknowledge that part.
Luke pulled him down to lay pressed against each other, the two of them covered in sweat and semen. They were both still shaking from the exertion of their love making. This had been the fifth time, and Neville was sure that even with a another potency potion, he wouldn't be able to manage another. Which meant it was real. This was the very last time he would feel Luke surrounding him that way. The very last... lips pressed against his as the tears began to flow, hands roaming his back, fingers running through his hair.
"I love you," whispered Luke into Neville's ear. "Always... forever."
"I... I don't want to let you go..." said Neville, grasping hold of Luke's hands as he pressed his forehead against Luke's. "I... I will remember you. I promise you I'll never forget. Never."
Eventually even their desire to make their time together last forever gave way to sleep, and Neville awoke to the coarse burn of stubble nuzzling against his chest. Neville wrapped his arms around his lover and held him close, letting the tears fall. Noah had been right. It was harder. Neville kissed the top of Luke's head lightly. Definitely harder. But it had been bloody brilliant.
Finally it was Neville who woke and slipped into boxers to wander the rows of plants that gave him comfort. When he had taken care of his plants, Neville returned to the house to shower and get dressed. He kissed the still sleeping Luke lightly on the top of his head, and then again against his lips, then walked slowly into the living room, scooping out a handful of floo powder and casting it down before stepping with confidence he did not feel into the green flame.
"Neville?" murmered Luke rolling over. Neville's side of the bed had gone cold. Luke pulled himself awake and pulled on a pair of sleep pants, making his way through the house. But Neville was gone. It didn't take long to discover that Neville had made arrangements with for the care of his plants, arranging for one of Professor Sprout's current crop of star students to care for them in his absence. He'd paid the rent for both himself and Casey for the next six months in advance, and left only the briefest of notes for Luciano: Goodbye, my love. I will always remember. Neville was gone.
