Hey everyone. I tried my hand at writing a Bradley/Katie fanfiction, but I don't know if it's any good. Let me know what you guys think!
Rating: G
Pairing: Bradley/Katie
Summary: What happens when there's a little on set jealousy? ;)
Katie walked into her dressing room and closed the door. She had a 6 am call time and she was exhausted. She set down her cup of coffee and her purse and was about to sit down when the door to her dressing room opened.
Bradley barged in and collapsed on a chair. “I knew I should have locked the door” Katie muttered. Bradley glared up in mock anger. “Good morning to you too Katie. Glad to see you’re just as sweet in the morning as you usually are”. She smiled sweetly down at him in response while he rolled his eyes.
“So what’s up?” she asked, taking a sip of her coffee as she sat down. She would not get through the day without some major caffeine. “I just don’t understand this script” he complained. She raised an eyebrow at him. “It’s not that difficult. Which part of Prince Arthur swaggers in with a sword to save the day but is saved by Merlin again do you not understand? It’s pretty much how every episode goes”. “Haha. Hilarious” Bradley said sarcastically. “No seriously though Katie - these scripts make no sense!”
Katie took another sip of her coffee as she waited for him to continue. “I mean come on! Until a couple episodes ago the guy was in love with Morgana. Now he doesn’t even notice her existence, and is in love with a maidservant - which would never happen in those days! Not to mention the way he’s treating Merlin again. It just doesn’t follow. I don’t understand the sudden character shift. What’s the motivation?” Katie shrugged. “It’s just the way it is, that’s how the legend goes. Arthur loves Guinevere. It’s supposed to be romantic. And Morgana spends more time with Merlin” Bradley didn’t look convinced. “When did you become such an Arthur/Guinevere and Merlin/Morgana fan?” he asked; his expression less than pleased. “Not jealous are you?” She asked, using the same smirk that Morgana used on Arthur. “You’re not Morgana are you?” Bradley retorted. Katie rolled her eyes. “Is this your way of saying you don’t want to work with Angel?” She joked. “No! That’s not it at all! I just - Hey! Is this your way of saying you want to work with Colin?!” Bradley asked suspiciously. Katie winked and smirked and let him take from that what he would. Bradley sat there for a moment in silence and then got up abruptly and left. As he was leaving Katie swore she heard him mutter something that sounded like “Everyone loves Colin!” She laughed as she picked up her script to prepare for their scene that day and immersed herself into Morgana.
Katie’s scenes that morning were with Colin coincidentally and she could sense Bradley fuming over in the corner as they filmed. During their lunch break they all went to eat together and he purposefully sat as far away from her as possible. When Colin showed up Bradley called out “Colin, there’s a seat over there, by Katie” while staring at her. Katie shook her head. Bradley could be such a child sometimes! Colin just shrugged, not understanding what was going on, and said “Ok…” and sat by her. Katie was not about to let Bradley off the hook. She was going to get him back if that’s how he wanted it! She smiled flirtatiously at Colin and gushed, “You did so great in your scenes this morning! Merlin and Morgana have such a connection. I’m so glad we get to portray that”. Poor innocent Colin, unaware of what was really going on, just smiled and said, “Yeah, it’s been great!” Bradley just rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath “Such a connection! It’s been great!” in a voice that was not a very flattering imitation of them.
Katie narrowed her eyes and decided that she’d had enough of this. “Bradley! Stop being such a child! Honestly!” Angel and Colin just looked between their two bickering friends, confused. Colin spoke up. “Uh you guys, what’s going on?” Katie turned toward Colin and explained, “Bradley’s having a little temper tantrum because he got the impression this morning that I would rather work with you then with him and apparently he didn’t like that”. Angel interrupted, “This morning? But you guys didn’t have scenes this morning…” “Oh, he was in my dressing room this morning” Katie said, waving her hand as if to brush it off as no big deal but Colin and Angel were smirking in a way that told their two friends exactly what they were thinking.
“I am NOT having a temper tantrum!” Bradley protested, in a voice that very much proved that he was indeed having a temper tantrum. “Yes, you are” all three of his friends said at the same time. “I am not!” Bradley insisted. He got up to clear his food and as he was walking away he looked back over his shoulder and added, “Besides, why should I care if you want to work with Colin? Work with him all you like!” And then he left.
Katie stared open-mouthed at Bradley’s retreating figure. “Excuse me” she said to her two friends and ran after Bradley. “Hey!” she called when she caught up with him. “What’s your problem?” she asked angrily. “I know we usually bicker but this is just starting to get mean now” she said. “Nothing. I don’t have a problem” Bradley replied without looking at her. “Look at me!” Katie said, grabbing his arm to spin him around. “Talk to me” she insisted. He shook his head. “It’s nothing.” He repeated. “It’s not nothing. You almost took my head off back there”. He sighed. “Sorry about that”. She nodded her acceptance of his apology. “And for the record…I wouldn’t rather work with Colin than you. If I could, I would make every scene an Arthur and Morgana scene”. This time she was the one who walked off, and left Bradley staring after her.
Katie and Bradley didn’t see each other for the rest of that day but the next morning a familiar scene occurred. Moments after Katie had entered her dressing room Bradley came in after her. “Are you stalking my dressing room?” she asked, only half joking. Bradley ignored her question. “You just walked off yesterday! You can’t say something like that and walk away! What do you mean you would make every scene an Arthur/Morgana scene if you could?” Katie cocked an eyebrow. “I thought that phrase was pretty self-explanatory” she said. He shook his head, trying to understand. “But…I thought you were an Arthur/Gwen and Morgana/Merlin fan?” he asked. She sighed as she looked at him. “That’s true, but that wasn’t because I don’t like Arthur/Morgana. It just felt too weird you know? Playing Arthur and Morgana every episode. It was too much like our own relationship and it felt weird having everyone watch that on screen. I just figured if I pushed towards Arthur/Gwen that would be the easier solution” she shrugged. Bradley’s eyes were wide. “Why didn’t you ever tell me that?” She looked away. “I don’t know. It never came up I guess. Besides, that’s kind of an embarrassing thing to admit” Bradley put his hand on hers. “It’s not embarrassing” he said firmly. “I kind of felt that way too. That the Arthur/Morgana relationship was really similar to ours” he admitted. She looked up. “Really?” she asked meekly. He nodded, his eyes boring into hers. Then he did the last thing either of them expected. He bent down and kissed her.
The kiss took Katie’s breath away. Not only because it was so unexpected but because it was with Bradley. She and Bradley had grown quite close over the past few years while filming Merlin and she would be lying if she said that she hadn’t thought about what it would be like to kiss him, but her thoughts didn’t even compare. It felt like fire and ice. Like she’d found another part of herself that she hadn’t known was missing. It felt like everything was…right. They broke off the kiss and looked at each other nervously. “We should probably go…” Katie started. Bradley nodded and got up. “Yes, they’ll be wondering where we are” “Right…” Bradley headed to the door and opened it for her. “After you…My Lady” She smiled at that. “Why thank you, My Champion” she replied, grinning at him and was rewarded with a big grin from Bradley.
As they headed out to the Pierrefonds castle side by side they felt like everyone was staring at them. We’re just being paranoid… Katie told herself. Before they could get to the heart of the set a fan came running up to them. “Omg! You’re Katie aren’t you? And you’re Bradley! Omg! You’re Arthur and Morgana! I LOVE you guys!” the fan gushed. Katie and Bradley glanced at each other and then smiled down at the fan. Katie was the first to respond. “Yes we are. Thanks so much” she said graciously. “If it wouldn’t be too much of a bother, could I get your autographs? And a picture with you guys? I absolutely love Arthur and Morgana! I wish they would get together on the show! You guys have great chemistry I hope you know. Are you guys going out?” Katie wore a secret smile while Bradley nervously coughed and looked away. “Of course you can get autographs and a picture” Katie said after recovering, ignoring the last part of the question. She pulled Bradley over to the fan and had someone take a picture of them. “Thanks so much!” the fan cried enthusiastically. The fan was about to leave but turned around to add, “You know, you guys are even cuter together in person. Don’t think I didn’t notice all those little glances you were giving each other. You should totally go out! It would be like real life Arthur and Morgana!” and with that the fan happily went off, leaving Bradley and Katie dumbfounded
