Summer Wonder Festival 2009
After having the winter version of Wonder Festival shutdown due to the big accident that happened last summer, Japan's huge figure convention was back! WonFes Summer 2009 occurred last week, & there were tons of awesome new figures for visitors to stare at & pray to one day add to their collection.
Every year there are always a few series or titles that get the most attention, & this year was no different. The Winter WonFes 2007 got the nickname Haruhi Festival do to the vast amount of figures & attention Haruhi Suzumiya got. The main focus this year seemed to be around KyoAni's newest series K-On (look at the Yui figures!), so clearly they know how to appeal to their audience. Other popular titles this year included Strike Witches, Rebuild of Evangelion, Toho Project, Vocaloid, ToraDora, Spice & Wolf, A Certain Scientific Rail Gun (Magical Index's upcoming spin-off series), & Type-Moon (Canaan, Fate/Stay Night, Kara no Kyoukai).
As usual, there were a lot of hentai & loli figures on display, so be aware of that as you browse through the galleries. But there was also plenty of safe-for-work interesting stuff like many gar figures, mechs, & even cosplayers. You can see all the great looking figures over at Akiba Blog.
