  • Early character designs for "Spice & Wolf II" have appeared online. [Anime Vice]
  • As we guessed, Keanu Reeves hopes to play Spike in the upcoming live-action Cowboy Bebop movie. The plot of the movie is also said to be based on the first episode alone. [MTV]
  • Japan's Newtype magazine is looking to compete with Megami Magazine by releasing a new bishoujo magazine, titled "Nyantype" magazine. If it's anything as good as Megami, I'll be getting it. [ANN]
  • Jumpland is getting even more free Shonen Jump manga translated into several languages. [Jumpland]
  • The LA Times conducted an interview with Naruto manga-ka Masashi Kishimoto, where he talks about his influences, stylistic choices, and Naruto's popularity abroad. [LA Times]
  • Japan hates the DragonBall Evolution movie as well. They also seem surprised that westerners know what Comiket is. [Sankaku Complex]
  • Despite popular western belief, not all doujinshi are adult material. Often it's just safe fan-made stories. Recently a list of top anime during the past year has been compiled to figure out what the ratio of adult vs non-adult doujin each title has. To Love-Ru tops the list, with 100% of its 208 doujins being hentai, while a title like Clannad is surprisingly near the bottom of the list with only about 25% of its 368 doujin being hentai. Mainly though ecchi & tsundere titles top the list. [Sankaku Complex]
  • A second "Gurren Lagann" movie based on the anime series will be coming out in Japan during Golden Week 2009. It'll most likely cover the post time-jump arc. [ANN]
