New Prince of Tennis Manga to Start

Nov 01, 2008 22:06

When Shonen Jump's long running "Prince of Tennis" manga came to an end earlier this year, it seemed like the story of Ryoma Echizen had run its course & had been completed. NOT SO, says creator Takeshi Konomi! It turns out, everything in the first series was nothing more than a (insanely long) prologue for the real story, which is about to begin soon!

The latest issue of Jump Square, one of the sister magazines to Shonen Jump in Japan, contained an advertisement promoting the new series. Not much information is given, but the ad does state that "a new legend for Ryoma and the others will begin." So we can at least take solace in the fact that the story will still revolve around Ryoma & the rest of Saigaku. This new series will most likely place the characters in high school now, as opposed to middle school like in the 43-volume first series prologue (though you'd never guess the characters were so young by looking at them).

The new series is reportedly set to start April issue of Jump Square. A bit strange that it's jumping to there from the pages of Shonen Jump, but maybe we can look at this as evidence that this new tale will be more mature than the first.
