Sep 20, 2008 23:20

The anime series "Hell Girl" from Gonzo & FUNimation has already been airing on IFC's free OnDemand service for the past several months. But now it will be moving from OnDemand to on TV, & will kick off IFC's new Automat block for uncensored alternative series. The new 4-hour Tuesday night block begins next week- September 30- at 8pm. Hell Girl will be at the beginning of Automat, as well as having a repeat at 11pm. Repeats will also air on their Friday night anime spot, replacing "Gunslinger Girl" which comes to an end the week before.

The televised version will start with episode 1, & the final episodes are scheduled to appear OnDemand later this week. Hell Girl is the final Gonzo/FUNimation anime series that was promised to air on IFC in 2008, with the other two being Witch Blade & Speed Grapher. More information below:

THE STORY OF HELL GIRL: Rumor has it that there is a website, HellCorrespondence.com, which can only be accessed at midnight. Those who reach it can enter the name of someone who has wronged them and get their revenge through Young Ai Enma, also known as Hell Girl. This denizen of the underworld takes requests from the website and sends the appropriate victim to Hell. However, those who choose to go ahead with revenge must pay a price: on the day that they die, they will also go to Hell, with no chance of redemption for their soul.

HELL GIRL tells the tale of those who meet Hell Girl and make the choice of divine retribution, and the price they must pay in this life and the next to pay back her services.

The IFC AUTOMAT is a Tuesday night four-hour block packed with exclusive uncut, uncensored alternative programming including network premieres, originals, shorts, web shows, anime and more.
