Strike Witches Manga Revived

In addition to the currently running Strike Witches anime series, there's also a Strike Witches manga currently running in Japan as well. Thing is though, this is actually the second Strike Witches manga. The first one came out in 2006, & was canned after only 3 months of serialization in Comp Ace magazine. Kadokawa, the publisher of the magazine, claimed it was because lack of interest. But in reality it seems that the series was canceled because it was too ecchi for Kadokawa's taste.

If some TV stations in Japan think the TV series is bad with its pantsu & cleavage shots, the anime ain't got nothing on the original manga. That version had full-out nudity, which makes earlier reports of the upcoming DVD version of the anime containing uncensored breasts more believable now. Now, the manga-ka of the original story was a ero/hentai artist after all. But Kadokawa knew that when hiring him, & they even asked that it'd be an ecchi title in the first place. Maybe the fact that the characters were so young looking was what caused the problem.

Well now Comp Ace is publishing a new version of the manga in order to leech off the buzz of the anime series airing on TV. This new version is still fan-servicey, much like the anime series is even its edited format. But it's far less ecchi. No more nudity to say the least. Sankaku Complex has pics of the older manga (mostly older) & the newer one as well for comparison. You can check that out at the link below, but be aware that some of the pics are very NSFW:
