Comic-Con: Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's

During the Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's dub panel at Comic-Con, it was revealed that Frank Frankson (Tristan in the original series) would be playing the voice of Yusei in the English dub. An earlier report from Comic-Con said someone by the name of Greg Abbey would be playing the protagonist, but it also said this mysterious person plays Raphael in 4Kids' version of Ninja Turtles, which actually belongs to Frankson anyway.

Looks like Tristan knew what he was talking about when he said the future of card games would be played on motorbikes. Some people might find it weird that 4Kids essentially chose Tristan to play Yusei. But when you think about it, Frankson was also cast as the main character in "F-Zero: GP Legend" as well as Sam Speed in "Sonic X." For whatever reason, 4Kids has their mind dead set on the guy playing racing characters.

There's no official report from this panel & only one fan report right now (the convention's still going on, after all), so information is sparse right now. Hopefully LittleKuriboh or someone else who was there will be able to provide more info (& hopefully video) later on. But what we do know from this report is that Yusei's last name has been changed for the dub, but to what isn't known. (Why change it? Both Yugi & even Judai kept their Japanese last names in the dub.) The dub is also said to premier on September 13 on the CW4Kids.

Also, apparently Frankson quoted from the Abridged Series by saying "My voice gives me super strength!" If LK really was in the audience for this panel, that must've been an awesome experience.

UPDATE: Another report has come in saying that Ted Lewis (Bakura, Bandit Keith, Allister) is the voice of Jack. It also seems that all names (first names, anyway) have been kept for all the characters, which is a pretty big change from their GX approach.
