The July issue of Megami Magazine arrived at my doorstep earlier this week (#98, almost at the big 100!), & this one was quite a doozey. The cover featured the latest Kara no Kyoukai movie graced the cover, a double-sided pencil board of it came with the magazine as well (never been big on the pencil board craze). It also featured a 50+ page special manga pullout, which really didn't interest me that much either. But it was the posters, as usual, where this issue was at.
The giant pullout poster featured two series that NebsTV fans should appreciate- one side featured the third season of "Familiar of Zero," while the other featured the third season of "IkkiTousen" (a second Zero poster also graced this issue as well). The only problem is, the giant pullout poster doesn't really pull-out anymore. For the first time in my 4+ years of subscribing to Megami, the big poster was actually attached to the magazine itself. I'm guessing this was done to prevent theft, which I imagine would have been a problem for shops selling the mag in Japan. Now we consumers are forced to actually cut the poster out. Granted they did give us a generous amount of blank cutting space to work with, but for someone like me with no artistic skills & an unsteady hand, I must say I don't like this.
Other notable posters featured in this issue include the "sequel" to last month's
scandalous Lucky Star poster. The new poster shows what we could assume is "the morning after," but it also shows us that the whole thing was nothing more than a fantasy of one of the other characters. ;;_;; Boo for no official yuri in my Lucky Star.
This issue also featured two surprising posters of the two Gonzo experimental series that we've been
showing here on the Nebs Blog- the Tower of Druaga & Blassreiter. I've always thought that the best kind of ecchi-ness comes when you don't expect it to exist (like if Yu-Gi-Oh was ever featured in here, I'd flip), & having these two Gonzo series in here was really quite a treat. & you can check out the posters for all these & a few others (including Special A & Soul Eater from GX_ST) below:
