The mysterious
Cloverfield movie will be hitting theaters this week & answer all the questions we've had about it. But before it does, it's still set on bamboozling us for a few more days. Such is the case among us now, as a Cloverfield-related manga appears online at the Japanese website for Kadokawa (Karin, FullMetal Panic, Girl Who Leapt through Time, Lucky Star, Haruhi).
At first glance it doesn't seem to have anything to do with Cloverfield, but there's an oil ship in the manga with the word "Tagruato" on the side. The main character Rob has
previously mentioned on his
MySpace that he had been hired to work for
Slusho, which is owned by the huge Japanese company
Tagruato. Do keep in mind that none of these companies or websites are real & were all made for the sake of the movie. This does finally explain the connection that
Slusho has to the film, though.
The manga is even made by JJ Abrams & all the writers from the film, which supports the fact that it's related even more so. The weird thing though is that even though it was created by Americans, the the manga can only be found in Japanese. I'll say one thing about Cloverfield- it has promotional stunts & advertising unlike anything else. You can find out more information about the manga here:
