NYAF: Lucky Star Dub

Bandai sure was in the habit of announcing the dub casts for their new shows at the New York Anime Festival the English dub cast for the series. First was Code Geass, & now Lucky Star. They are:

• Konata Izumi - Wendee Lee (Haruhi in Haruhi, Ururu/Yoruichi in Bleach, Dorothy in MAR)
• Tsukasa Hiiragi - Michelle Ruff (Rukia in Bleach, Koyuki/Snow in MAR, Nagato in Haruhi)
• Kagami Hiiragi - Kari Wahlgren (Saya/Diva in Blood+, Anemone in Eureka 7, Tsuruya in Haruhi)
• Miyuki Takara - Karen Strassman (Soifon in Bleach, Steyr in Scrapped Princess, Kallen in Code Geass)
• Akira - Stephanie Sheh (Orihime in Bleach, Hinata in Naruto, Mikuru in Haruhi)
• Minoru - Sam Regal (Taniguchi in Haruhi, Kudamon in Digimon, Faust VIII in Shaman King)
• Kuroi-sensei - Kate Higgins (Miki in Digimon, Sakura in Naruto, CC in Code Geass)

So in the end they wound up using Wendee Lee to play Konata after all. As Lucky Star fans are sure to know by now, Haruhi Suzumiya & Konata are voiced by the same seiyuu in Japanese. With Kadokawa & Bandai in charge of dubbing both these shows as well, many thought that Haruhi's English actress might dub Haruhi as well. Many questioned however if Lee would be capable of pulling off Konata's role since it's different from her norm. However, I think something close to her Yahiko from Rurouni Kenshin should work quite well. Also noteworthy is that Sam Regal will be playing Minoru, who's the guy who voiced Taniguchi in Haruhi (as in the actual person). Regal also played Taniguchi in the dub, so it all works out quite well. In addition to cast info, Bandai revealed some news on what to expect with the releases:

• 6 volume release
• Special Editions with goodies like with Haruhi Suzumiya. No details on OST/music yet.
• No set street date at this time.
• DVD Liner notes to be included for explanations of inside jokes and references in the series.
• Original Japanese Endings will be kept
