Coverage of the first ever Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo have been appearing all over the net since the the con ended on Sunday, covering stories revealed there such as Star Wars on Blu-ray (a story
I helped break!) & the end of Nicktoons Wolverine animated series. FUNimation posted the above recap video on their blog, as they do with most of the conventions they attend. C2E2 of course had far less anime events than Funi's average con, so there's not a lot of Japanese-related stuff in the vid. Still though, it gives you a good idea of where & what I was doing this past weekend.
In addition to all the coverage, ICv2 revealed the attendance numbers for the very first C2E2. For its first year, the convention had about 27,500 people! The number includes 1100 kids who attended the Kids Day promotion on Sunday. The numbers mean that C2E2 instantly becomes the fourth biggest comic/pop culture convention in the country, trailing only San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic-Con, & WonderCon. That's pretty impressive considering this is only year one, & the numbers will only grow from here on out. It trailed the first ever New York Comic-Con by only 15%-20%, which is not bad considering the Chicago populace is about half the size of New York's.
