IkkiTousen Season 4 Confirmed

Comic Gum magazine, the manga rag that has been running the IkkiTousen manga for the past nine years, has revealed in its January 2010 issue that a brand new IkkiTousen anime series will be airing Japan in April. Titled "IkkiTousen: Xtreme Xecutor," this will be the fourth season of the ecchi fighting series & the third that continues the tradition of using double letters for the sequel subtitle, after 2007's Dragon Destiny & 2008's Great Guardians. The "XX" title also shows a connection to the recently announced new PSP game Xross Impact, which will take place in between seasons 3 & 4. Guess we should have figured something was up when a new IkkTousen game was announced out of the blue like that.

Xtreme Xecutor will introduce the character Bachou Mouki for the first time in the anime series, who will be voiced by Aya Endo (Miyuki in Lucky Star, Sheryl in Macross Frontier, Yuuki in Kanamemo). In addition, several brand new anime-exclusive characters will also be introduced in the new season. Last season's Great Guardians introduced Sonken Chuubou, another anime-exclusive character not seen in the manga but played a big part in the season which hardly used any material from the manga. It's unknown if she'll return for season four, which returns to adapting the manga storyline.

While the season wont be premiering until Spring, a special "Volume 0 Mochiron Misechau Mushūsei Da yo!" preview DVD will go on sale on January 22, 2010.
