In a recent interview, Keanu Reeves was asked about the status of the live-action Cowboy Bebop movie. You can check out what he had to say in the above video, but if you're too lazy to check it out, he basically says that all the bug characters from the series will be in the movie, & that the script is currently in the middle of a rewrite. Here's why:

There's a draft of the script, but the writer did such a great job...in order to make the movie you would need half a billion dollars.

The studio kinda just went: 'This script is fantastic - and it would cost half a billion dollars! So he's doing a rewrite.

All is not so peachy for the live-action Voltron movie though. Three independent producers are suing World Events over the film. Apparently they claim they had an exclusive deal over the rights of the adaptation project. This is actually the second lawsuit for the film, after the ongoing dispute between World Events & Toei over the rights to the project. & things once looked so promising.

& finally, Imagi has announced the worldwide release dates for the upcoming Astro Boy CGI film. The world premiere will be on October 5 in Japan, with the American premiere being held on the 19th. Hong Kong, where Imagi is stationed at, will hold it's premiere on the 17th. Some interesting notes:

This first release will be a big deal for Imagi, and it will be doing multiple roll outs through the month of October. The picture hits big, the company kicks into high gear with several other projects. Corporate chiefs say that Imagi will move ahead with newer product no matter how Astro Boy performs, but I tend to think that the film's success will be a huge shot in the arm.

Imagi is continuing story development on its next project. If Astro is successful, the Sherman Oaks studio space should fill up pretty quickly with newer employees ... or so I'm told.
