I haven't been able to get into Browne's non-historical stuff. The style was still, last I checked, kind of bumpy and the ideas/characters/settings weren't as interesting to me.

I'd suggest starting with Warriors of Alavna, both because it's book 1 and because it's probably the best constructed of the bunch (2 had some pacing/organization problems -- though, hey, it's a King Arthur story, so what's not to love? Which is sort of how I feel about this entire series: not the best-written stuff in the world, but playing in some of my favorite sandboxes with a great deal of enthusiasm and energy.).
