Which Oscar Nominated Movies Have You Seen?

Jan 20, 2014 01:14

So there really isn't a single oscar nominated film I want to see this year but I keep hearing/reading how good some of them are. There are a lot of movies that don't sound appealing or maybe I'm just not in the mood to see even though everyone says they are great, and then for some reason or another I do see them and I am almost always happy that ( Read more... )

Gravity was awesome. You should see it on the big screen (3D or IMAX if possible) just for the incredible cinematography - it was BREATHTAKING.

I have not see any of the others - altho American Hustle is on our list because everyone I know that has seen it has said it was really good. Also, I heard Dallas Buyers Club was incredible. And my parents saw Philomena and said Dame Judi Dench was AMAZING. And GAH I've heard 12 Years a Slave was awesomesauce too LOL. So yeah, but I've only seen Gravity.

That's what I'm talking about, everyone has good things to say. Okay, good to know, I'm getting positive feedback so I think we will go ahead with our operation watch the oscar nominees. :)

I liked Gravity! In imax it would have been truly amazing, I think on the small screen it wasn't quite so impackful. Even blu ray would have been better but I do agree that it was beautiful.

I thought the acting in American Hustle was really impressive and the story was okay, but It wasn't as amazing as everyone led me to believe, or maybe my hopes were too high.

The last we've seen so far is Her and it is our favorite of the 3 which is crazy since it was at the bottom of my do not want to see list. It was so much more interesting than I was expecting.

We are going to make our way through the rest of the nominations...

Wasn't it AMAZING!!!! I really enjoyed it.

Hmm that's good to know about American Hustle.

And also REALLY good to hear about Her because it isn't very high on our list either.

Cool - let me know about the rest.

I've been very slack on the movie front lately - too much work, too little free time, not enough money - but I have seen Gravity, and I enjoyed it. I didn't want to rave about it, but I think it's well-written, reasonably scientifically accurate, and very well shot. Sandra Bullock is great :)

I'm going to watch Her soon - I hadn't heard of it before a couple of days ago, but it rather fell across my path, and it sounds very interesting. Although for some reason, it also remindes me faintly of S1m0ne... I'll be on the watch for Al Pacino making a mysterious appearance ;)

Yes it does remind me of Simone. It's been so long since I saw that, it would be very fun if Al Pacino made an appearance but somehow I'm thinking he wont. You'll have to tell me what you think of it because the little I've heard is, 'I can't explain it, just watch it'. And I want to know more!

I shall watch Gravity. I shall proceed with operation oscar nomination watch.

I've now seen Gravity, American Hustle and Her. Gravity was good, it definitely would have been better on the big screen or even in blu ray. It was very pretty! The acting in American Hustle was really good but I have a hard time watching things that are dated and I find the 70s especially icky for some reason :P Her was like at the bottom of my list of ones I didn't want to see so we decided to get it out of the way and it was so much more interesting and complex than I thought it would be, it was very good and I actually enjoyed it and it had us talking. So far it's our favorite of the three. Go figure! And it really wasn't like Simone at all from what I remember anyway of it, I saw that so long ago.

I just sat down and watched Her, and found it very moving. I wasn't sure what to expect, and now my head's overflowing with thoughts about it. It seems weird to think that I found it by accident... it makes you think about what it is to be human, doesn't it? It definitely wasn't another S1m0ne. I've not seen Joaquim Phoenix in many movies, but I think this is the third where he's really impressed me - I may have to go and find some more of his movies.

I kind of want my computer to sound like Scarlett Johansson now.

None.

I usually wait until they come to Netflix. I do want to see Dallas Buyers Club.

Hmm

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Hustle because of the 70s too.

I don't know if I'll ever watch Her. I have this annoyance with the idea that we can make robots or computers human-like. The movie has an interesting aspect to it but I have to wonder if I'd just end up annoyed.
