"Why did you suddenly want one?"

Jun asked from the couch, watching as Ohno fuss over the Christmas tree he bought. The tree was beautiful. It wasn't very small and it wasn't very large either. The leaves were as green as can be, with the branches evenly spread apart. What was surprising was, this was the first time Ohno was setting up a tree.

"I saw one at the department store," Ohno replied, making sure that the tree stood straight. "And I just... wanted one."

MatsuJun decides not to ask further as these sudden impulses from Riida usually brought about good results. Ohno smiled widely when he admired the tree from afar, and then grabs the box of Christmas ornaments (bought at the same time as the tree). Riida then turns to Jun with a hopeful look.

"What?" Jun said in a completely uninterested voice.

"Won't you help decorate the tree?"

Even though Jun agreed, it turns out his idea of helping was to sit on the couch and the hand the ornaments to Ohno. Not that Ohno can complain. It wasn't like Jun was going to do what he says if he did, anyway. Besides, he was too excited to furnish to care that about that right now.

A little red here.

And some gold over there.

That spot over there needs a bit more color.

--

Just furnishing the three seemed to take off a lot of years on Ohno's face (not that there were a lot of those to begin with). He was grinning so widely Jun was almost afraid he's burst of happiness. Ohno went around the tree, adding the ornaments handed to him by Jun. It wasn't long before every spot of the tree was filled with color.

Jun had to admit it looked magnificent. The colors looked good against the green of the tree's leaves. It looked almost unbelievable that those ornaments were placed at random. The only thing missing now was the star on top. Well there was also the case of the presents under the tree--but that was for later.

Riida held the gold star carefully and eyed the top of the tree from where he stood. When he finally decided to perch the star on top, he came to a realization.

He can't reach the top.

This is the part Jun found the most amusing. Ohno was hopping around the tree, his arm outstretched and his face filled with determination. By the time Ohno had circled the tree twice (and still not any closer to reaching the top), Jun felt that he had to help. He can't hold in his laughter anymore.

"Here, let me." Jun said, standing up from the couch and taking the star from Ohno's hands. In an easy move, he reached up and placed the star on top. When he looked back at Ohno, he was surprised when the older man pounced on him.

Yes. Pounced.

"Riida, what--"

"Thank you, Matsujun," there's that grin of his again. The impact of Ohno's pouncing sent Jun lying on the floor, with Ohno sitting on his belly, his legs straddling either side of the younger man's hips. Jun shook his head and just smiled. "Merry Christmas!"

...

"You've gotten heavy," Jun told him in a serious voice.

"No. You've just gotten lighter, that's all." Ohno explained in a patient voice, lightly patting Jun's arm. "Want  to get something to eat?"
