The last thing Jin remembered was Ryo once again picking on his weight--that bastard, it's always his remark when he runs out of things to say--and his eyes were feeling all droopy. He struggled to keep them open and he could've swore he heard Kame call out his name. The next thing he knew, he was in a hard bed and around him were white bare walls.
The first thing that comes to Jin's mind was that this was probably a prank Ryo set up.
But then, he heard Kame's voice again, calling him. Jin tried to respond but his throat felt so dry, his head was throbbing and his eyes were still getting used to the brightness of the room. He grunted something incoherent.
"Finally you're awake." in the brightness, Jin could see a figure peer at him and he took it as Kame. "You scared us for awhile there. How are you feeling?"
"Thirsty." Jin said in a raspy voice.
"Oh right, wait here," Kame was about to rush out the door when it opened, revealing Ryo with a scowl on. Jin could see them talking in hushed voices--what the hell was that, they ate one ramen together and suddenly they're best friends?--and Ryo throwing him a look Jin didn't know how to describe. Afterwards, Kame left the room and Ryo sauntered in.
"You scared Kamenashi." was the first thing Ryo said, when he was standing beside Jin's bed.
"What happened?"
"You collapsed." Ryo said simply, his gaze locking with Jin's. He then took a seat on the bed and took a nearby apple. "Doctor said because of stress and fatigue and it seems someone's diet has been erratic lately..."
JIn looked down at his white blanket guiltily.
A pregnant silence followed and Jin didn't know what to feel nor what to say. Ryo didn't seem bothered and was now munching on his apple. Thankfully, Kame came back with a glass of water and a doctor.
For some reason, Jin couldn't meet Kame's eyes.
--
Later that day, Jin was allowed to go home. The doctor told him to get some rest and gave him a prescription for some medicine to increase his appetite. To go with this was a diet plan the doctor ordered Jin to obey.
"Well, I'll be going now. I'm already late for a rehearsal," Ryo told Jin, while glancing at the clock in the hospital lobby. "I told Pi what happened and he's glad you're all right. He might visit you sometime this week."
Jin nodded in reply.
"And Jin," the Osakan stressed his name. "Take care of yourself,"
"Thanks," was said barely above a whisper. Kame thanked Ryo for his help as well and then assisted Jin to the parking lot. Jin always did hate feeling so weak.
--
"Do you need anything? A glass of water? More blankets? Food?"
"Stop it, you're sounding like my mother." Jin muttered sourly. The moment they reached his place, Kame managed to whip up something--Jin had no idea what it was--and ordered Jin to eat, if he wasn't feeling sleepy. Jin was terrible at feigning sleep so he decides to eat, reluctant he may be.
After the meal JIn feels like he pushed down his throat, he was sent to bed. Jin whined about not being sleepy but Kame was stern. When Kame was stern--just like the way he was when they were in rehearsals and everyone was making far too many mistakes--Jin didn't want to question him.
"Are you sure you're all right there?"
"Yes, Kamenashi, I am." Jin answered loudly.
"Well then," Kame shifted his weight from one foot to the other, and the atmosphere in the room changed. "I guess I better get going."
Jin had no idea what to say to that and Kame took his silence as a form of acquiescence so he prepares to leave the room. Kame's feet were heavy and Jin looks up when he heard them moving.
"W-wait," Jin finally said. Kame stopped in his place, with the door half-open in front of him. All of the sudden, Jin felt nervous--and it was ridiculous, this was only Kame--but he went ahead anyway. "I'm sorry,"
"For what?"
"For being stupid. And for worrying you."
Jin's head was bent low, his fist was gripping the blanket tightly. The scene made Kame smile, a small smile that made him feel warm all over.
"You're worth worrying about,"
Jin looked up at him, his eyes telling him everything his mouth can't. He was never good with words, and trying to express himself proved to be difficult. Thankfully, Kame understood Jin. He understood exactly what Jin was trying to convey and the fact that at least someone understood him--plus the fact that that someone was Kame--made Jin smile as well.
"Am I worth staying for too?" Jin asked, his voice clear.
"All you had to do was ask," and the door was closed behind him.
