"Jin?"
"Hmm?"
"Are you scared?"
"...N-no. Are you?"
"No."
"Really?"
"Yes. You, on the other hand, should stop snuggling against me,"
Jin froze. His side was touching Kame's and they were almost sharing a futon now. Kame shifted his gaze from the TV--now showing a corpse on a bed--to Jin, who has his hands on his face, half-covering his eyes. Kame rolled his eyes and shot Jin a look. Jin peeked from his hands and glanced at Kame.
"I'm not scared, Kame." Jin told him.
"Look, if you are scared, we should just stop watching this thing now," Kame told him, reaching for the remote. Jin scrambled to grab Kame's arm.
"NO! We have to finish this movie. And I am not scared."
Kame sighed and just continued watching. Jin kept on moving against Kame, intent to not leave any space between them. Kame decided that he'll just tease Jin about this later. And just then Jin gave a small shriek as the corpse on the TV suddenly moved--that made Kame grin wider.
"Kame, you're not scared, are you?"
"I'm not, Jin" the younger boy told him, a smirk forming on his lips.
"I'm not scared too," Jin announced to the silent room.
"I know you aren't" Kame told him patiently. "But you know if you are then..."
"I am not!" Jin replied defiantly. "Why would I be scared of that stupid horror movie?"
"Mmm. So I guess it's okay if I leave the room for a little while," Kame's smug grin was back and in the dim room, it looked kind of scary. Staker-ish even.
"W-wh-where are you going?" Jin started to sit up, clutching the covers.
"Out."
"But why?" Jin moaned.
"Because you are such a scaredy-cat."
"I am not!" Jin howled and Kame hissed at him to tone down. "I am not scared. Am not. Definitely not."
"Whatever you say, Jin."
It was late. Kame wasn't sure what time it was but he was betting that it the wee hours of the morning already. He had his back facing Jin, enjoying teasing the older boy. Kame can feel Jin rolling around in his futon and he can only conclude that Jin was, no matter how much he tried to deny it, scared. Not that it took Kame that long to figure that out. Jin was always easy to read.
"Kame," Jin said in a stage whisper.
Kame tried to pretend that he was asleep.
"Kazuya, I know you're awake."
"What is it," Kame asked tiredly, shifting in his futon to face Jin.
"I lied earlier."
"About what?" It was hard for Kame to hold back his smirk.
"I am scared. Do you mind if I move closer to you?"
Kame giggled and shook his head. Jin smiled and moved closer. It surprised Kame though when Jin--well, who else could it be?--held his hand.
"You're really warm, Kame." Jin murmured and Kame smiled faintly.
"So are you."
