I don't think it's theft to make a copy of a pattern while it's offered for free on the Internet.
Although I still wonder what the designer's doing. There are now three comments on the pattern on Ravelry that boil down to "Bwa? Invite, wha-?"
I'm so relieved I have that download, though. I knew I'd written it down once, but I apparently threw the handwritten copy away and if I'd done that and it was now gone, I wouldn't be through kicking myself for a very, very long time. Now, if she makes it for pay or takes it down, I'll put the post private - but I'll still have a copy!
