Google Earth is my new favorite toy. With just a little more ability to customize what you see, it may become my new favorite way to create maps. Plus, the number of default things it'll give you is altogether too cool. Want crime stats the city you're hovering over? What about transit rail map overlays? Census Data? Totally off topic, we taught Anna to do "Represent." She beats her chest with one hand in a fist and then puts the hand in the air. Now she does it and adds "dude" at the end. My little homie surfer.

It's not Google's fault that no one has purchased a publicly available image of whatever area you're looking at. Google doesn't own the satellites (yet)! I've always wondered how much an image costs, because I haven't even lived in a high-res area either.

I also have started using Google Earth to make maps. It's really useful to see buildings and other landmarks for navigation.
