Do Not Touch - Cordial

For the Do Not Touch challenge over at maxis_taste  I didn't touch the Cordial House.  Actually, I touched it a lot, I just didn't touch the items I wasn't supposed to touch.

There weren't any items outside that weren't supposed to be touched.  I made some structural changes and some changes to the yard's layout to better fit the family that would living in the house.

Floor plan views of the first floor before and after.

The house's new entryway.  The two do not touch objects seen here are the bookcase and the small stereo.  The stereo is now placed inside the table giving an appearance of being table top rather than just a ridiculously cheap electronic in a cumbersome location.  In these pictures you can also see that one of the structural changes I made was to place a regular staircase rather than utilizing the spiral from the original layout.

Taking a left off the entry way we can enter into the great room.  There are two items in this room that were untouchable.  The TV/entertainment center and one of the small end tables.  Since both of those objects were dark wood I kept the rest of the room rather dark.  The table is somewhat ornate so the couches and lamps are as well.

You can get to the game room either through a new archway from the great room or through the mysterious bookcase in the front hall.  The do not touch object in this room was one of the chairs.  I kept the darker wood and the red from that in designing the room.

Just in front of the game room is a small half bath for washing up.  The mirror was a do not touch object.

The final room on the main floor is the kitchen / dining room.  Do not touch objects were one of the table chairs and one of the kitchen counters.  Since both items were green I kept to that color scheme and since the chair was country style the dining room is designed in a similar manner.

Upstairs we begin seeing the structural changes that I made in order to open up the house a bit and to make more room for a family.  At the top of the stairs there is now a music room where the teen-aged daughter can practice.

The daughter's bedroom itself is a bit small, but the added walk-in closet makes up for it in her opinion.  There's also the benefit of it being on the opposite end of the house from her parents.  There's still some touches of childhood in the room, but you can see that she's growing up.  The do not touch object is the round end table in the dressing room.

On the other side of the music room is a hallway with doors leading to the master bedroom, the second bedroom and the upstairs bath.

We'll start with the upstairs bath.  Rather boring but then most bathrooms are.  The untouchable is the shower.

This room belonged to the elder son, who's now away at college.  His mother has cleaned it up a bit so that the room can be used as a guest room but you can still see hints of the boy that lived there.  The bed was untouchable.

The master bedroom is the primary room that was added to the house.  The original house had no where to place a double bed.  There's a small bath off the master bedroom (again bathrooms are boring).
