I love this place and FB is NOT a replacement.
Its just we all have to fall out of love with the quick fix or fb before we all start back up wth the posty posts in lj world

That's SO TRUE. FB is definitely the "quick fix". If I just want to see if someone's updated, or if I want a question answered quickly, it's so much easier to pull up the FB app wherever I am and use that, but when I'm at home, I really do like LJ so much more ( ... )

I have no interest in twitter, I hate the concept of the site really and consider it vapid to the extreme.
Facebook is where I keep casual contact with a select group of people I know, mainly family and friends I can't be in contact with elsewhere. I do not use it frequently at least not to share and consider it pretty shallow.

LJ is where I have some really good lasting friendships a few of which have carried over to an offline relationship using phone and occasional in person meetups. I also met my husband here ;-) I find as I get older that I narrow down the things I talk about, care less about many friends instead of a lesser number of good friends, and unlike some of my friends who have been eaten by the fast paced tidbits of facebook I do not consider LJ an internet graveyard :-)

Consider me a die hard LJer even if LJ itself has done down some pretty lame roads as a company.

I agree completely. I have about a million "friends" on FB because I consider it more of a networking site. It's very shallow and my requirements for "friendship" are very low. I have never FOUND a friend on FB the way I have on LJ, it's all people I already knew from real life.

I'm not going to copy/paste my comment to kandi_bomber but it sums up my feelings about the whole thing.

I stopped using LJ for a while when I was so depressed. Now, I'm just out of the habit, but looking back I don't think I would have been SO depressed if I had had more meaningful interactions with people who actually care about me (posting here) rather than the "none of these people really care" interactions I was getting (FB and IRL). I hope I can catch up with everyone because I really missed y'all.
