I may have commented hereish before on distinctions, such as between culture and race. Definitions are useful, but they are only a starting point.

The penumbra is a good point, as is your consequence. Well thought out! I can think of a 34 guy meets 18 girl relationship when there really wasn't much of a power imbalance; but there often would be. We need to draw the line somewhere, and society has (with adaptions) drawn it there. I suspect that's about right. Anything older will criminalize foolishly. Anything younger is getting into a very creepy zone indeed.

It's always risible to see The Hon Member for Wentworth still casting his line into the ocean, hoping for his old job back. Relax, son. You've got far less chance of that even than the Ruddbot has. And why? The public might love you, but your colleagues actually know you. I won't say never never; but it's bloody unlikely. This is a guy who takes advice only from his shaving mirror. And doesn't his Party know it!
