I keep meaning to ask you what do you mean by the term 'wrangler'. You use it all the time and I've never come across it.
To my mind it's the job of the person nominating the story to provide all 20+ links or the link to a set tag. It certainly isn't the responsibility of those who are collecting nominations.
I was thinking ahead that it's going to mean more work for you if you have a load of stories with dozens of links.
We can't make an author retag their entry or set up a new memory.
I didn't think about this either... I agree that we will have to change the rules to encompass a multi part story? Does that mean that the cut and paste code will have to get changed as well? I was just curious.... Good question, though thanks for thinking of it.
I wish I'd thought of it before the eleventh hour!
I'm not sure what cut and paste code you mean? Do you mean the html post bananacosmic posted yesterday? I wouldn't think that would change, she'll just add something to the Rules post - I imagine.
I think we should require one link that links to the entire story. It is up to the author to either 1) link the parts together or 2) provide a link to a tags or memory page.
I personally do not think we can tell an author they have to retag or repost or rememorize their story. We can ask if they have one link, but I'm not sure we can say 'Your story has been nominated, however it's in 10 parts and if you want it to go forward you have to tag it so we only have one link' or something.
I think we have to accept that if we get a multi-part story we will have to provide all the links.
That's just my thought. Obviously if the general consensus is we can/do then clearly we do - but I think it's a step too far to be honest.
It may not be an issue, or at least not a large one. But I know there are some long stories out there whereby people post in parts, etc.
It's a difficult one - especially so late in the day.
I don't think it's the nom wrangler's job to put all 20 links in the nomination form. I think it's enough for us to provide one link--to whatever URL the AUTHOR wants us to link to. If it's difficult to find the parts it's on the author to make it easier, NOT us.
Which is why we need to ask the author what link she/he wants to be published.
The author chooses. The wranglers do NOT check to see if the links go to all the parts.
I have no idea what you mean by 'wrangler'. I'm sorry it's a term I have never come across, so really I don't know what you are talking about. Sorry, but I just don't.
I disagree with you, I'm afraid. I firmly believe it is the job of the person nominating a story to link to all parts. Thus whoever is compiling the list of nominations for that particular pairing/section has to also list all the parts when putting them in the spread-sheet. I do not believe we can go to the author and say 'hey, you need to repost your story or give us on link or one memory or one tag'.
The people taking the nominations don't have to check the links, but we do have to provide them all for people to vote on. Thus the people nominating have to give us all the links if it is a multi-part story.
That's my take on it - but if the majority disagree with this then fine we ask the author to do extra work. I just don't feel we should be doing that.

It's strange what comes into your mind in the shower - and then you have to keep repeating it so not to forget!
It came to mind as I was starting to ponder recs and remembered one I wanted to rec was in multiple parts.

You're welcome.
Indeed.
'Fun' is not quite the word I'd use - if you see my post, but thank you :-) I'll try.
