Oooh! I love the idea of McGee being a crossword puzzle fiend! This was very cute. The voices rang true and I could totally visualize the scene.

"So who’s helping you. I can help you. I love doing crossword puzzles - the puns, the foreign language references. The New York Times Sunday puzzle, now there’s a real challenge."

Thanks! I was cringing at the way this one wanted to be written mostly in dialogue, because I hadn't originally envisioned it that way. I was afraid that I wouldn't get the characters' voices right if I used too much dialogue.

This was actually written as a tribute to my mother, who loved to do the New York Times puzzle every Sunday, and she would do it in pen.
