Last day at work, last day of someone's life, the last of the coffee, the last Caf-Pow in the machine, the last time Tony had sex. *grins* Or it could be "last" as in something that endures: a lasting relationship, a lasting effect, etc. What about last as the least desireable thing? The last thing someone would want to happen.
