For the past few years I have had XM/Srius satellite radio in my car thanks to a Christmas gift from my brother.  I really enjoy listening to BBC1 Radio, both CNN and FoxNews, genre music, Leo Laport talking on the weekends about all things with chips in them from cell phones to theater systems and the latest gadget from Apple and other things you ( Read more... )

I have found that the older I get, the harder it is to read. I can't get lost in a book anymore and my attention span is terrible. I can still see the scenes, and a great book can do it for me, but it has to be a great book. An average book, like those I used to devour when I was young, just won't cut it. I have to be really interested. I guess that one could classify me as a "reluctant reader" as an adult. I need the good stuff to keep me in it.

That said, I still enjoy reading, and I find I go through phases with it. Sometimes I can read a lot, and other times I can't even finish a single page.

I tend to find an author and if the are a good writer, read everything that they have written. Then I go through a "no reading" period until I can find another author.

I've been in a "reading period" for the last 6-7 months. I think that's why I can't write. Any thing I do pales in comparison to what I'm reading.

I do the same thing with authors. And I have the opposite problem with reading. I try to rewrite it constantly in my head.
