Revolution Comic: Endgame - Chapter 4 - "Into the Light"

Jun 16, 2015 09:57

This is basically the opposite of last last week. Yes, it's the end, but you're probably just gonna shrug and be all - eh. That or be filled with rage. Apparently there are two ways to feel about it...

Fortunately, my low expectations (lowered further by Chapter 3) have allowed me to feel like the writers earned themselves a C. Coz they tried. And ( Read more... )

The good things:

- Charlie didn't die.
- Miles didn't die (of unnatural causes).
- We didn't see Bass die (he never died, he got bit by a vampire and now he's immortal, shutup).
- My OT3 survived (technically).
- Rachel had a plan (even if it was a stupid one).
- Charlie has a new little brother - who I am mentally calling Danny 2 or Sebastian Jnr. I can't decide.
- Marlie stayed together.
- Marlie got a happy ending.
- Rachel can't ruin anything else? (Is that unfair to say?)

Bad things:

- It didn't make a lot of sense.
- My OT3 didn't stay together :(
- MILOE WTF. YOU'RE BROTHERS FOR LIFE.
- Memorizing code is one thing. Memorizing a virus and being able to 'deliver it' mentally and not get stopped by an all-powerful AI is another.
- Not!Ben...you were right Ivy. And I thought it was a cleaned up Miles, until Rachel said his name.
- Rachel calling her daughter and the last two men she's slept with (and been tortured by) her 'friends'. (That's pretty inaccurate, even for you Rachel)

Eh is a good word for it, yeah. Are we just not supposed to care whether the power comes back? Is the firefly at the end supposed to be symbolic? I guess from Charlie's perspective, since the show sort of skips over the fifteen post-blackout years, it's all the same in that "there's no longer any oppressive governments or evil nanotechnology out to get me so problems=solved," but from ours as current readers...as you say...eh.

Well, there's always fanfic. ;)

What.

What was that?

So...Miles died like ten years later and Charlie hasn't aged at all? Bass left Miles and Charlie because Connor died, even though he willingly abandoned Connor for Miles just a few months before?

Rachel didn't get stopped by the AI even though they've tried that trick before?

Bass LEFT??? (he IS a vampire now and lived forever. I'm down with that)

The power never came back and we're supposed to not care?

Who is this woman Miles met?

What the HELLLLLLLLLLLLLL I'm so MEH. What a huge disappointment. And even I can draw better than that. Really???

Boooo. I give it a solid "well, they tried."

(((hugs))) I'm sorry it was such a disappointment for you, bb. But, there's always fanfiction, and since this is just a comic it can be ignored and not considered canon.

It was just disappointing. I hated the art (I've been reading comics for a LONG time and how things look means a lot as there are so many talented artists out there) and the storyline - come ON. Nothing new, and the fact they caved and made Charlie Miles' daughter...bleh. And Bass left based on that one thing? I think they just couldn't think of anything to do with him.

Yes, fanfic.

I thought the cover was super pretty? And the comicbook did give us some new canon that had fanfic possibilities ie CM2 off on their own for a year? I can work with that. The Rachel stuff was pure fuckery, Bass leaving Miles is contra to the feeling of the entire series (though I can see why he would, not so much for Connor but just being DONE with Miles.) Does Charlie then have to raise little brother number two after virtually raising little brother number one and NEVER have a life of her own? HELL NO.

Scary big sis Charlie told little bro Sebastian the story, and rode off into the sunset to track down the real thing.

(Kinda glad it's done, because once canon is tapped out, the story belongs to US! Mwahaha ....)

I'd be lying if I said, I'm surprised but I'm not, not really. Some things (like lil' brother No. 2 or Monroe leaveing for good) I didn't expect but others (like Rachel being once again the hero or Miles/Charlie sticking together till the end) didn't, and especially Miles and Charlie staying together is what kinda made this comic somewhat worthy for me. But only kind of ( ... )
