Best scene(s): Can I just say the entire episode? Seriously, I think other than the Pilot, this was my favorite episode to date. If I really have to pick just one scene, the scene with Michael telling Miles and Charlie about the militia attack that took their parents away. The LOOK on Miles' face...GAH!! You can just feel his anguish in just those few facial shots as he has to confront the results of his actions from the other side of the story. Then, second favorite scene is when Miles agrees with Charlie that they have to go save Peter. IF Charlie wasn't already head over heels for Miles, she was after that scene, and forever sealed me as a Miles/Charlie shipper.
Worst moment(s): The end credits!!!! I want MORE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How long is that hiatus??? I'll never survive it!
Favourite quote(s): Just about anything uttered by Aaron, but the absolute favorite was, ""Awesome, like a pack of hairless Ewoks." LOVED IT!!! My first fandom love referenced in my newest. Le sigh of contentment.....
General observation: the writers really have to stop saying something is impossible to do, and then have that exact same thing play out only minutes later. They did that in "Sex and Drugs" insisting that Miles could never get close to that guy Drexel wanted killed, and then Miles gets into, and out of, his stronghold without a scratch or being seen. Then in tonight's episode, Miles says storming the boat is impossible, and then moments later, he and Nora are scaling over the sides of the boat like a raiding party. It's sloppy writing and, frankly, just signals exactly how some later scene is going to play out.
Yes. I've had similar issues with the writing. Doing it once, I could forgive, but we all know that attacking the ship is crazy, but Miles is going to do it anyway, so there really isn't any purpose to pointing out how stupid the whole thing is.

IKR. Kids and their sob stories are his kryptonite. You can kinda see the pressure building as he listens. (God, I love angst)
And HEEE welcome to the dark side. I tried SO SO hard not to Ship it. And then by the third episode I realised (thanks a lot Tumblr!) I wasn't alone and gave up resisting :P ...it's all a delicious roll down hill from here. Damn their chemistry.
I loved her being proud of him, and it was so obvious too - so he would know as well ♥

Oh, I started shipping Miles/Charlie from the first episode, the chemistry was just so THERE from the start. I know this is network TV and the writers will NEVER go there. However, I'd love to see an episode or scene where someone assumes they are a couple. In "Sex and Drugs" we never hear Miles explain his relationship to Charlie. I'd have LOVED it if Miles had put himself protectively in front of Charlie when Drexel was checking her out when they first walk into the house. It was a perfect opportunity missed for someone to comment on it. I can just hear Drexel, "Miles, you're women keep getting younger. If you can't keep up with her, Old Man, let me know if I can lend a hand...or any other body part." Or something just as perfectly sleazy from Drexel!
I can't even put any proper sentences together - that was amazing. SO MANY ANSWERS. AND BEN ♥ and it's all Danny's fault. And OMG Rachel told Ben that this was a bad idea. I just. Ugh. Feels. More feels than last week.
I hadn't thought about it being all Danny's fault, but yeah, a parent's, especially a mother's, instinct to protect her child goes a long way explain some of motivations. I'm still not prepared to like the character though. She has a long way to go before winning me over.
First of all, Peter (wearing green) and Michael? A tribe of lost children? I see what you did there, show.
But basically, this is one of my favorite episodes so far. I loved loved loved the Rachel backstory and her twistiness and omg the LIGHTHOUSE, when the kids didn't know what was happening and all the people froze on the ship. That was probably the first time, even more so than with Maggie and Aaron in Grace's house, that I really felt how monumental getting the lights back on is going to be for everyone.

RIGHT? And they did it so well, I only made the connection when I started quoting things. "He tells the little ones stories..."

ME TOO. It was more than I ever hoped for (I thought the promo was hyping it up too much, but no) - they promised ANSWERS. They delivered.
Not to mention, Rachel and Ben scenes ♥ - just what I wanted.
'Course...I don't know what to do with what I know now.
I spent a frantic, flaily 10 minutes trying to explain a condensed version of the last 7 episodes to my mother just so I could tell her about

Best scene(s): Um, this had a lot of them, actually. But, the top was probably watching Miles and Nora storm the boat, because it was just him being his BAMF self and I always love that. Plus, it was nice to see Miles doing something "for the greater good". I'm a huge fan of morally questionable Miles and always will be, but it's his ability to make these choices that makes him such a perfect grey character.
Also a huge fan of the Bass scene with him being all soft spoken and creepy. He's just so broken and then there is Rachel with her, what I've now decided, normal manipulative self. She is just a manipulating manipulator who manipulates. I'm not sure if I like her or dislike her because of it. Also, it still didn't tell us why she turned herself in the Miles in the first place. Nor did it answer any questions about how/why Bass wanted her, unless Bass was working for creepy Randal DoD guy and that's how he knew, but it still doesn't explain why she'd turn herself into Miles and not Bass. Because clearly, Miles never knew about

Your Revelation of the Week: I was surprised to find out that Ben is a lot more like Miles than I first thought. He was totally okay with giving the super dangerous technology to the DoD, knowing they would want to use it as a weapon. Again, he's grey because he was doing it with the best of intentions for his family, but Rachel was just totally outraged at the idea. I knew they had something to do with the development of the technology, but I didn't realize it was their technology.
The award for Best character development of the ep goes to: Rachel. I don't know if I'd call it best, but it was the one I found most... interesting. I've never really trusted her character, and this really didn't help her in my mind. So, we knew she wasn't okay with the technology at the beginning, but then she told Bass about the pendants, which I get because Bass has her kid and she kinda owes him, even though it's his fault, at least indirectly, that the whole situation even came about, so maybe she doesn't owe him anymore, but still her kid. But

Charlie getting the brand. Now, Charlie didn't bother me as much in this episode as she normally does, and most of that might be because Michael totally made my day because it was like forcing Charlie to see herself. And Miles' line about it was just perfect. But, the branding was just a little much for me, not because of the brand itself, but that Charlie, the least likely to ever become part of the militia gets the brand by "accident"? I just feel it's poor writing. I understand her getting in and out couldn't be perfect, and I'm glad it wasn't, but the brand, not so much.
I suspect this is going to be an important plot point later on. I can see her using the brand and the uniform to infiltrate the militia camp when they get to Philly, if not before.

So true - you can't be grey if you don't have the ability to do both 'good' and 'bad things. There's a quote somewhere (I saved it and I stumbled across it the other day and now I don't know where it is! >_<) WAIT. FOUND IT
The noir hero is a knight in blood caked armor. He's dirty and he does his best to deny the fact that he's a hero the whole time - Frank Miller
- I like to think that's how Miles will stay. He'll fight the good fight, he'll do some questionable things, but he'll know himself (and what his capable of) better - and that's what will stop him making the mistakes of his past.
Also a huge fan of the Bass scene with him being all soft spoken and creepy.I know! David Lyons is surprisingly good at soft and creepy. I don't think I could accept (or like) Bass as much if he was loud and obnoxious and in your face, the fact that he's sedate: is scary...because you're
