Very odd. I don't speak German, so I could only watch it in the original English. I always thought it was sarcastic and ironic ... but maybe us Americans just have a different standard for our irony and aren't as wicked. ;-)
Yeah, it could be something like that. Like the cultural standards for irony and sarcasm are different. Or it transponds different with different languages. Or Germans are just plainly wicked ... LOL!
In the past I found out when I tried to be ironic it was sometimes misinterpreted as me being nasty or something (by native English speakers) and I got hit because of it. It's either my bad English, my general wickedness, or it really is a cultural thing.
In any way - the dubbing seems to fit the German interpretation of sarcasm. I just have to cope with the original and maybe learn about cultural differences ;-)
Yes, that's touching. And especially her little sister who gets so much affected ... and weirder herself. Collecting/stealing toilet-sets in the neighborhood to hang them up on a tree ...
There are actual a few of them. My guess is the more violet a death is, the more Goth Gollum creatures are around, which can only be seen by the soul collectors.
I also find the company where George is working and especially her boss so over the top and funny. It's like a caricature - soul collectors have to work for a living like every average alive person as well ;)

The show is maybe two years old and only consists of two short seasons, so it's not around anymore *cries*
But I'm sure there are reruns on your TV.
