I want to program something that can do the following in a fast and neat and understandable way:
  • Contain loads of musical scales, chords and alternative tunings for the guitar.
    • Let the user define their own scales and tunings. Possibly even chords, for those who want that kind of sound.
  • Show all possible chords for any given scale.

That sounds like a nifty idea!

I used to play around with making music a lot, mostly using the FruityLoops program (or NoteWorthy Composer, to make MIDIs). Overall I wasn't very good at it but sometimes I could randomly pop something good out of nowhere...

I believe you find the most special things when you search in limited areas. When you've got all of music at a distance, it's overwhelming, although awe-inspiring. But then, when you put on the limitations of an instrument, a scale, a tuning, you can find something quite unique.

I think it sounds wayy better on my own guitar. :P

There is stuff on the intertubes, but nothing that combines re-tuning with the display of chords. That I've found. And now I found one.

But I don't like it. It's not my own.
