that's EXACTLY how steve and i view valentines day. we don't celebrate it. steve and i love each other equally every day of the year and don't feel the need to buy each other flowers just because it's the thing to do on this particular day.
Heh, I find it amusing when people say they don't believe in Valentines Day... until they get a huge bunch of flowers! Yay /sarcasm.
I do agree with Em though, whilst it is a n overly commercialised day, it's nice to have a certain day set aside to spoil someone. Kind of like their birthday.
I don't really think going over the top one day a year, and assuming that is fine for the entire year is the best way to be in a relationship either, though.
I guess making someone feel special all year round is important, but it's nice to have a day set aside for it as well.
I love valentines day. Just like I love christmas, and I love birthdays, and I love any day that I get to spend with the boy I love doing whatever the hell we want to do. Its not about presents or flowers or chocolates or hallmark cards! Ben and I didn't exchange presents, we have a greater plan in mind (Ps: We're going to take over the world!!!!), but as fate may have it, we both had the day off and got to spend allllll of it together. Thats what matters. Its just a reason to be all soppy and neglect everyone else.
And you all know he spoils me all year round, so no arguments about that one :P
Fuck knows what the real point of it all is, but sure as sure, on there's nothing worse than being alone on the day and seeing couples in love everywhere and flowers and all that shite. People who say they don't need the day to show their love and don't want to be dictated to piss me off. Why waste your energy taking a moral stance on a funny little tradition, and making your partner feel miserable (as my uncle has done to my auntie for the last twenty years) when you can buy a bunch of flowers and be the best in the world. It's really not that much effort

And how suprised are you gonna be when he sends you flowers on a random day just because he loves you?
So many people get disappointed, because they're expecting something and don't get anything.
