I enjoyed the new Sherlock Holmes, but man it takes some getting used to the fact that Sherlock has a website, texts and uses Google Maps. I preferred when he Google-mapped using his mind later in the episode. I am also impressed at how much more they poke at the gay thing after what happened with Ritchie and the owner of Sir Conan Doyle's estate. ( Read more... )

There's already a movie for 'Girl with the dragon tattoo'

It's... in english, but I guess it stars Swedish actors and they want to Hollywood it up. it's a very intense film. :|

I'm more interested in the book than the movie.

My forum has a few people that have read it. From what I can remember, it's a good story, but either not all that well written or not all that well translated. So it's ended up being one of those love it/hate it books.

I'll try to track some down for you later, since I've been a bit interested as well.

Ugh, I hate when it's a decent story but badly written.

I found the girl with the dragon tattoo pretty . . . uh. Dull. The plot was interesting but the writing was eh and the pacing was even more eh and in general I was just unimpressed.

What's the big love for it?

Well, IMO Best Sellers tend to suffer from bad writing syndrome (often). I mean, Dan Brown, anyone? So.

Good music though!

I think that's all I remember about his stuff...

Yeah, I was weirded out at first by Sherlock sending texts and using Google and etc. Took a while to get used to it! Watson having a blog, on the other hand, makes perfect sense & I'm tickled by that idea. :)

It was interesting how far they poked the gay thing. And rather than completely shooting it down they left it fairly ambiguous. Hopefully they won't get sued!!

The ambiguity is the boldest thing of it all. I don't think I've seen Watson's blog yet.

Seconding that it was dull. I honestly couldn't even tell you what it was that I didn't like about it anymore . . . it left that little of an impression on me. 8(a Generally I can make it through books even if I'm not that into them, but I just couldn't get past the first few chapters of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I've had the first episode of Sherlock downloaded for a week or two but haven't watched it yet. I SHOULD GET ON THAT.

Perhaps I shall skip in then since I'm not getting rave reviews.

Also, yes you should watch Sherlock. It's very good.
