Perhaps a Wii may be more to your liking. If you get 4 controllers, you'll have a lot of fun with friends.

i've played it once. i was horrible at tennis, and boxing sent me into fits of laughter.

if the cost were the same, i'd likely get a Wii, but since it's not, i think i'll still be quite giddy with a ps2.

If you thought Guitar Hero was cool, my understanding is that Rock Band is phenomenal. I will admit that this requires a beefer console and the game itself is pricey (what with the guitar, the microphone and the drum stand), but if that's your thing there's nothing better.

The Wii is also good for playing short, goofy games with friends.

i LOVE a game with a drum set. that sounds awesome, except i don't really dig the song list.

I think a PS2 is a great choice for you. A Wii might also be good, if you can find one. (Rock Band is awesome, but I don't think it's what you're looking for, mostly because you have to buy a PS3 or an Xbox 360 to play.)

on Rockband, Wikipedia says: the PlayStation 2 version will be released in North America on December 18, 2007.
