Kitty care.

I spent a ton on the kitties today. I went off in search of an extra litterbox, and I ended up with two brand-new ones, both extra-large size. I also bought a kitty water fountain, more litter and a kitty windowsill perch (which won't fit and we'll be taking back). I was going to purchase a new litter scoop, but Wal*Mart was completely out of them ( Read more... )

We had that problem with Tabatha, until we got the extra litterbox. It's never been a problem since!

I really hope it works. If not, Philip is seriously wanting to get rid of him. Cleaning up poop twice a day is not fun and very gross, and it'll be even worse for others to do it while we're on vacation. :-(

When it was really bad with Tabatha, Mickey talked about that too, but I put my foot down. You don't get rid of your children, no matter what they do, and our animals are our children. I think he was just mad at the time.

I hope it works too!

Do you use scooping litter also? We switched to that and that helped also.

Yep, we've always used scooping litter. It's the only thing that feels really "clean" to me.

We've had Tuck for almost six years now, and we got him from an abused home to begin with. We can't just get rid of him! But yeah, Philip's really mad about it, and I'm really upset that we can't seem to "fix" it. :-/

Have you talked to your vet about this behaviour? It may be a sign of something other than just pooping to be a pain in the ass....

We haven't taken him in to the vet, but a call to the office told me that if he's regular (which he is) and isn't having any other problems (no pushing, whining, etc.), then he's probably just not comfortable pooping with the girl kitties anymore. Even though our latest addition to the family (Baby) has now been with us for over 2.5 years, the woman told me that older cats, especially males, will suddenly not want to share boxes.

Now what would make you go and do something like that? Don't be sad - he made it back home!

I haven't had cats for a long time since Danny & Tristan are both allergic. But when I did, I had one that used to do the same thing. The vet told me that cats don't like their poop any more than we do. Sometimes, they just don't want to go in the litter box because they've seen the other cats do it and don't want to get it on their feet. Believe it or not. A separate litter box did do the trick. Hope it works for you too. :)

It seems to be working so far - 24+ hours and no poops on the floor. I sure hope it keeps up!
