five songs.

I think it's wrong to call music sharing a meme when it's probably the one thing fandom does that is always relevant and welcome. (You know?) Five songs I'm into right now:

Cherry Filter - Head-Up [Korean]
Cherry Filter is a Korean indie rock band with a bit of rap, metal, pop, and various other things. Not easy to define. The lead singer, Youjeen, has a crazy-unique style that surprises and pleases me. As for "Head-Up," I love pretty much every single thing going on musically in this song. Plus there's whispering, screaming, rapping, singing -- something for everyone!

Nastyona - Secret [English]
Nastyona is a really kickass Korean indie rock band. Mr. Kwang describes them as "mixed up noise rock - dream pop - bossa nova - psychedelic - folk," and I would say that's more or less accurate. "Secret" is sexy with a hint of menace. I love the way Yona, the lead singer, slurs the lyrics as if she's drugged.

Kokia - Shiroi Yuki [Japanese]
This song is just lovely. Kokia is hit or miss for me, but her sweet, clear vocals are used to great effect here. I like how very simple and straightforward the song is, supported by a strong melody and sung well.

Lasse Lindh - Best Laid Plans [English]
It takes a lot for me to like white boy indie rock these days, but Lasse Lindh has a sweetness in his voice and in his songs that appeals to me. Plus, he reminds me of the indie rock of my early youth, so he gets a pass. This song is from his first English album (his previous albums are in Swedish). It's short and one could say repetitive, but I like the mellow, dreamy mood it evokes.

Tohoshinki - Ride On [Japanese, English]
Basically the perfect R&B track. It's sexy, makes you want to move your hips, and has just the right amount of cheese. I have to mention, too, that the production is really slick. I've listened to it 100 times, and I'm still hearing new things in the background. The metallic effect at the beginning owns me. As does Changmin's voice during the bridge. And Yoochun's "mm-mm." Okay, stopping now.

Let me know if you hear something you like!
