So I'm back from Complete, and it was awesome. Sure, it was a bit BSG heavy, guest wise, consdering I don't watch that - but they were all lovely! Especially Leah Cairns (Racetrack). I love her a lot. Cobie Smulders (Robin of HIMYM fame, for those of you - and shame on you! - who don't know who she is) is one of her oldest and dearest friends, and she loves HIMYM. We spent loads of time talking about it and about Cobie, and she loved my Let's Go To The Mall t-shirt so much. (Alison - HIMYM, watch it! It's frakking awesome!)
Apparently, the role of Kate on lost was down to Evangeline Lilly and Cobie. We're (and this "we" includes Leah) SO glad Evangeline got it - Cobie is just too perfect for Robin. And Leah said to us that they auditioned SO many people for Robin, and Cobie was the only person that even came close.
Awesome.
Spent Saturday night being taught Life Lessons by Mark Sheppard - I've got a $15 bet with him that means I have to try watching Galactica, and I have to vote because I have a womb. Yes.
Mark's Dad was cool, he had so many stories to tell, it was nice. We talked to Adam and Richard Brooks (Jubal Early) about Wii-ing, made Nicki Clyne (Cally - see, I know names now! I'm getting there.) think we were trying to clone her, had Michelle Forbes compliment my bag (I don't know who she plays but apparently she's a big deal because she hasn't done a con in 17 years) and had Jamie Bamber ask (jokingly!) why I was wasting my money on his autograph if I don't watch. Bless him. And then I suggested he bring cut out clothes to cover himself up when people by the photo of him in a towel for signing, because he said he finds it weird. Makes me wonder why he signs off on organisers providing that one, if he doesn't like it, but whatever! Gotta please the fans.
The autograph session yesterday started at about 4.30-5ish like usual, and Adam was there the whole time... and yet when he came downstairs for the closing ceremony, he wasn't even finished. He went back up to finish signing afterwards - if that's not legendary, I don't know what is!
All in all, an awesome weekend. As much as I say it made the weekend cheap for me that there were so many BSG guests there, I do like events where there are guests I don't know. Talking to them is easy because there's no "OMG you're so-and-so off the telly!" factor, hee.
So yes. Love Leah Cairns. My only regret is that I didn't think to ask Mark for a slapbet instead of a money bet. Kath wanted to be Slap Bet Commisioner!
Quinn and I got up and checked out of the hotel at 5am with a dozy receptionist and were at Watford Gap by half 6. We were home by 9 - it feels so bizarre to be here this early. But I'm unpacked, my photos are transferring and I'm about to get stuck into Mario Kart Wii for a little while before having a nap!
