...with pictures, this time! :D
Got up at 7.45 - I let Tracey and Lara have the bathroom first so that I could stay in bed. I love my bed. Heee! Went over to breakfast - first time I've needed to go outside to get to breakfast, so that was weird, but also woke me up slightly. I love the breakfasts they have at the Thistle (the only good thing about that hotel, really!), but I wish you could go and get them any time of day, lmao. I'm never hungry that early in the morning, but it's usually the only thing I eat all day so I have to stuff myself! If I could have gone over around lunchtime, it'd have been perfect! *g* Anyway, we all pigged out on the all-you-can-eat breakfast, then went back to the room and lazed around some more, reading teletext and getting ready. Lara went to have her picture taken with Dennis Christopher, since the Dennis/Stacey shoot was at 9, and while she was gone I had a shower. (Oh yes, this report really is going to be THAT detailed!) After she got back, it was time for the Jenny/Clare/Sarah shoot, so we all took a walk across to browse round the dealers room since they hadn't called my number at that point.
As we were walking down the corridor, me at the front, followed by Tracey and then Lara, I noticed an open door. Now, as a hotel room cleaner person, I have this automatic habit to glance into rooms to see if they do things like we do. Except it turned out this room wasn't propped open because it was being cleaned; it was propped open for reasons unknown, but it was definitely still occupied, and by one Mr Andy Hallett. Which was very bizarre. He was just lying there on the bed, chatting. I walked right past the door, then Tracey did, and we both turned around to signal to Lara to look into the room as she walked past! Very, very odd experience!
Nothing particularly special in the dealers room, it was even worse than the White Room which I take it was because most of the dealers were over at Earl's Court for LFACC. When they called my number for the Clare/Sarah/Jenny session, I hopped into the queue and Lara & Tracey went to take a seat in the main hall - where they were supposed to be showing the second season premiere of The 4400 that Summer Glau was in, but instead decided to show the Mark/Andy/Brody talk from End of Days. I got sorted into the queue for "group" shots, and then they let people go in front of me that wanted all three of them, which was fair enough since it would be mean to throw Sarah out of the shot just to drag her back in again after me! *g* I was absolutely positive I'd blinked when he took it, but I looked at the schedule and figured we should be back in time from LFACC for the same session again on Sunday (Clare/Sarah/Jenny at 2pm) to get a reshoot done if I had in fact blinked. It turned out to be the second nicest con picture I've ever had done - the first being my
Nathan & Morena one from Serenity.
I went into the main hall to find Tracey and Lara, and stayed to watch the EoD talk. Still hilarious, although not as much as it usually is when I watch it since I'd watched my tape of it not so long ago at home as it happens. I moved up to the stewards seats at the front as it got closer to time for Clare, Sarah and Jenny to come on, for the first talk of the day. Just as they came out, they called our numbers for our Illyria pictures, so I quickly snapped a few pictures and then left my bag on my chair and joined Tracey and Lara in the queue. Tracey decided she wanted to pose arms crossed & back to back with Amy, and I said we should do it Charlie's Angels style, like we were holding guns. Then it escalated into us all joking that we should all be in the same shot, and we could be Wesley's Angels - all out to avenge Wesley's death by killing Vail - we could even get Dennis in the shot! *g* As the queue came round the corner, we spotted that Amy wasn't wearing her costume, just the makeup, which is fair enough since they'd mostly be head shots. She had a black top on, which worked really well with the blue. What was very strange, though, was seeing her wearing jeans and red trainers! We commented that it was like Fred and Illyria really had merged, although it was less personality-wise and more like they'd cut Illyria's torso off and stuck it onto Fred's legs! *g*
I wasn't sure how to pose, since my picture of me and
Clare Kramer dressed as Glory from End of Days is probably my least favourite. Because I'm blinking and have my eyes shut. But also because she was doing a Glory scowl, so I didn't know how to stand - usually they put their arms around you, but not so much in this one. Luckily, Amy was still wrapping her arm around people, just scowling, so I decided I'd be OK to smile in this one. Tracey was up first and asked Amy for a back-to-back shot, and she said "Sure!" It was weird seeing her grinning to talk to Tracey and then scowl for the camera! I was next after Tracey and when I got up there I said "I just want a normal one!" and Amy laughed and said "Okay!" Once Lara had had hers done, we went back to the main hall and watched the rest of Clare, Sarah and Jenny's talk. Jenny seemed lovely and relaxed, shoes off and feet tucked under her! I think they like having Clare there, because she's just such a con-pro and can talk for ages!
I remember Clare talking about working with Eliza and doing Bring it On before Buffy, so there wasn't that Buffy link then. She also talked about having worked with Eliza on Tru Calling, but couldn't remember the name of the episode. Jenny said "Was it the beauty pageant one?" and Clare said yes, and Jenny said "It was called Drop Dead Gorgeous." Clare said "How did you know that?!" and Jenny revealed that she'd auditioned for that role, which amused us quite a bit!
Vladimir was up next. I don't remember a lot of what he said, but he got plenty of questions, which is always nice for the smaller guests who do talks on their own. I remember Brody Hutzler having trouble getting questions at EoD and Hyperion, too. Only when he was on his own, though! He was a nice guy, but ridiculously tall!
Then there was a break, and then Dennis and Stacey. About five minutes into their talk, Lara and I had to go get our pictures taken with Andy. Most people were getting shots with Andy, whether it be him on his own, or with Dayne or Vladimir, so we had to wait in the queue for a while. He was lovely, as always, and I've decided that he looks so tall in the other picture I have because Mark is ALSO very tall and there's just me being a shortarse in the middle. This one is much better, since it's just me and him and makes him look less of a giant next to me. Still very glad I didn't get one taken with Vladimir, though! He'd have to have sat down, practically!
We missed most of Dennis & Stacey's chat due to lining up for so long, but we still got back before the end of it and reclaimed our seats in time for Andy, Dayne and Amy's Q&A, which was the highlight of the day. When they sat down, Amy was muttering something about "a robbery", so Andy started on his first long, complex tale of the weekend. Basically he'd gotten Amy and her husband a set of robes as a wedding present, with "con robes by Lorne" embroidered on to them. Then he started to tell us the next part of the story, stopped himself, muttered something off-mic to Amy, to which she replied "Yeah!" and Andy lifted the mic again. "So I got some robes done for -" *mutter mutter to Amy* "-Amy's son Jack-." Queue us all giggling because it had sounded to us like he'd been unsure of Amy's son's name, when really he was just checking with her that he was allowed to tell us. Which I think she thought was a bit odd, but hey, this is Andy!
Apparently these robes had cost him more than Amy and James's put together, because it had to be so small and fit "con robes by Lorne" on. And now they've been stolen. Andy's not sure if it was the valet, or one of a couple of people who've borrowed his car recently. A lot of the time he had to ask Amy what the question was because he'd had trouble hearing...this theme will definitely be recurring in my Sunday report! ;-) (Tracey and Lara will know specifically which story THAT refers to!)
Someone asked what they were all up to, work-wise, in the future, and Amy started talking about the pilot she did for CBS which got picked up as a mid-season replacement, which most of us already knew but we were happy for her. Then she finished the sentence with "-but I found out last week that they're replacing me." We were all shocked about that - Andy was asking her off-mic if they told her why, and she said not really. It's a big shame, 'cause she was supposed to be starting work on that next week. Andy hasn't done anything since Angel and I don't think he plans to, either ... he's just living off convention appearances!!
After that it was autograph session time again. It took us forever to get there, because there had been some kind of bottleneck formed inside so they were letting that completely clear first. When we finally got in, Sarah and Stacey's tables were clear, so Tracey and I went up to Sarah first. We both got her to sign our season five DVDs, Tracey on the outside box part, and me on front the actual thing that holds the DVDs, where Amy, Dayne and Andy had signed on Friday night. Then I went on to Stacey while Tracey got in the queue for Jenny, since she wasn't bothered about getting Stacey to sign her DVDs. I felt bad, though, 'cause there was nobody at Stacey's table and a huge queue for Dennis! She signed my Casefiles, and then I went on to Jenny, who signed my S5 DVDs right along the spine, which looks awesome. Her mum was there, and she made me nervous, I'm not sure why! No mistaking her mum for her, like we did with her sister last year,
ficbitch82!
Then we got in the queue for Dennis, and Lara got there first since she'd been in his queue since we got in the room! *g* He signed her photo of Vail (which she only got because there *weren't* any of Dennis as himself) with "To Lara - You're Vail's Angel."
....
After our "Wesley's Angels" comment earlier? Oy. Too freaky! He signed my Casefiles with Love & Luck, and then noticed my stewards badge and told me that since he was selling Cyvus Vail t-shirts for £20, if I wanted one, I could get one for a £5 discount because I was a steward! Bless! I didn't, of course...
So the three of us were discussing Lara's autograph as we walked back to our room, and she was saying that if she were Vail's angel, she'd kill him! So I opened my mouth to talk as we rounded the corner, and spotted Andy Hallett coming towards us. I did a little spin to try and point him out to Tracey but she didn't know what I was on about! So not wanting to just *stop* talking and walk towards him in silence, I carried on. I said "Well then you wouldn't be a very good angel, would you?" and Andy walked past and said "Yeah, bad Angel!"
Of course THAT had us cracking up for ages! After that it was time for another trip to McDonalds, called and spoke to Dad for a few minutes, telling him about our day (he was a tad confused about where Charisma came into the whole trip, bless him), then we just hung around in the room til time for the Fancy Dress. It was the same as always, really ...cute kid dressed as Harry Potter won best child - lots of X-Men entries which confused me and Lara until she remembered that the party theme that night was an X-Men theme. There was also a guy who came as The Doctor, which not many people got until Clare added "From Doctor Who"...dude, did he NOT look like the Doctor. The guests clearly didn't get it *at all*. The winner was a girl dressed as Illyria - out of three, she actually wasn't the best, IMO. But she won, and they took a picture of her with Amy - while they were doing it, Amy whispered something into her ear and they both lunged at Andy and made him jump out of his skin! Hilarious!
After that fun and frolics was all over, we went back to the room so I could attempt a couple of hours sleep, since I had to steward from 00.30-02.30 - I think I had about an hour in the end. They let me come back at 1.30, though, since the Green Room was closed and the guests were all out dancing or had left. We planned to get up around 6 on Sunday, so I knew I wasn't going to get much sleep at all!!
Okay. Now. I have my picture of me and Amy as Illyria scanned (okay, I have a photo of the photo) and uploaded if people want to see. It's
here, and I'll be deleting it in two days before Google finds it, since we're absolutely NOT to put this on the internet AT ALL. :D So if you want to see, take a look now!
Sunday to come soon! Along with the rest of the pics!
