Summary: Penny was going crazy.
Penny had been living the same day for two weeks.
She was going crazy.
Every day she woke up with her cell phone telling her that she had a text message from Sheldon saying he was at Caltech and needed a ride to get Dr. Gablehouser a paper from some physicist. She always went to pick him up, trying to do something different each time, but it always ended the same way.
She tried to go earlier. She tried to take another way. She tried to make Sheldon stay at home, but he always ended up shrugging her off and going to work.
And every single time she watched him die.
The first time she watched Caltech collapse in front of her when the earthquake hit and he didn’t make it out in time. After that, all of Pasadena fell apart. People were saying it was the end of the world.
The minute she woke up the second day and got the same message, Penny called Sheldon back and made him promise her he’d wait for her outside. When she got there and Sheldon was waiting outside, she took a relieved breath.
Unfortunately, two seconds after she saw him, the earthquake hit again and she wasn’t able to reach him before a projectile did the work of the day before.
Similar situations happened every day for two weeks.
It was Hell on Earth.
Penny didn’t know what to do anymore.
She tried to stay up late and impede Sheldon’s going to work.
She tried to get there earlier, but failed.
Everything she tired went wrong.
Until that day.
By the time she got Sheldon’s message, she was already on her way to Caltech. She asked him to wait for her next to the building on the other side of the street, exactly the way she had five days before. This time, when he got into the car, she didn’t even say hello; she just closed the door and slammed her foot down on the accelerator.
Then, the earthquake hit.
Sheldon screamed, everyone was running, cars were colliding, but Penny just kept driving.
This time she would save them.
