I got this toad stool soaps shampoo a couple years ago from a friend in oak moss(I think that's the name) and it was amaaaaazing for my fine straight hair, I never even had to use conditioner

Then I went and bought it is the rise smell and it didn't work AT ALL

Anyways the oak moss was incredible but the smell turned my then boyfriend off.

That should say the ROSE smell

What. This sounds like crazy magic. I am intrigue. Thankfully, my boyfriend is generally apathetic to however my hair does or does not smell like. And likes the smell and taste of vinegar. Win/Win.

And huh. Thank you.

I get all my stuff from www.hiddenvalleyhandcrafts.com.au these days. Not sure where you are - they do post internationally, but I have no idea of the cost.

The shampoo bar is lovely and lasts me about a year (I have short hair though). In the dry season (April - September) they also produce a matching conditioner bar which also lasts a year or so. The liquid conditioner is pretty nice too, I just find it doesn't provide as much bang for my buck.

I'm not sure how Lemon Desert Organics is not natural...isn't it organic? And isn't organic more natural than "natural" things?

I'm confused.

The product saying it is natural or organic does not always mean it is actually, truthfully, 100% Organic.

That being said- I flubbed with the product name. I was talking about Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon shampoo/conditioner. As far as I know, Avalon Organics is kindasorta organic but not completely.

Hardly an exhaustive list of offenders, but this is relevant: http://www.ceh.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=529

Also, I recommend vetting any new body care product with Skin Deep first: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/

"Avalon Organics" is just the brand name ... it doesn't mean anything about the product. Additionally, there are different meanings of the word "organic". "Greenwashing" is a really common practice, which is why it's important to research individual products instead of relying on their claims or the assumptions these clever marketers want you to make.

It may or may not be "natural enough," but I use Nature's Gate tea tree oil shampoo. I have scalp issues that it helps somewhat with, but also it's on the more affordable end of natural products which is nice. I've also used JASON tea tree oil shampoo, but I find that Nature's Gate lathers better (and is easier on the wallet haha). I don't recommend Renpure Organics ... the shampoo I linked made my hair limp and greasy, which is a really unusual reaction for me.

Just an F.Y.I that Nature's Gate isn't all-natural and contains SLS.

Not anymore. They redid the formula and the current ingredients don't include SLS. :)

Oh, you're right! Except I just looked up the ingredients. The problem is it now contains cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine as the main ingredient, second only to water. Is cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine safe? No one really knows because there hasn't been any research on it. There's so safety data sheet, no long-term tests or trails, nothing. It looks and sounds just like SLS did a few decades ago. There was little research on it and everyone thought it safe. Skip ahead to today when we all know it's bad news.

I have to say I wouldn't trust anything without years of substantiated testing and trials. Ultimately I wouldn't trust anything so many steps down from nature.

I figured if you don't already know this you might be interested! This stuff makes me nervous.

I use Desert Essence shampoos. Raspberry is my favorite right now; my hair is fine, medium length, and somewhat oily. I wash just once.

Of the grocery store "organic" brands. Desert Essence is actually not that bad. Bad ingredients are usually low on the ingredient list, where present.
