A rant about mining and media willful ignorence

OK, yesterday I was changing radio stations and on the way to the one I wanted I hit one of the local talk radio shows. I paused to listen because while I regularly disagree with this person he/she (no clues; sorry) also does some very good charity work on their own time. However, the comments I heard nearly made my head explode!

Your userpic gives the answer. There always have been and always will be people who will make outlandish and illogical claims. You can't stop them (at least, not without censorship and loss of freedom of thought and speech), but you can work to build awareness and education for people to "pay attention" and think for themselves.

Rant away, I agree 1000%, and listening to this sort of ignorance makes my blood steam as well. Eyes flash dangerously.

Except for the censorship thing, I think people like this shouldn't be allowed to speak until they've been educated on the topic for which they are spouting. The educational system has failed horribly in some cases, and when I read that they want to institute creationism, or eliminate the facts about slavery, I want to shriek. Shares your outrage. :D -SB
