I agree with this. I don't like lotion anyway. I find it very ineffective, and since they're an oil and water emulsification, they require unnatural preservatives, unless you make them fresh and use them right away. I find moisturizers without water to be much more effective.
I use jojoba on my face, and sometimes mix in rosewood and carrot seed essential oils, which are good for aging skin. I make my own body butter from mango and shea butter, blended with just enough oil to make them workable at room temperature. Sometimes I use an herb infused oil, sometimes I blend in essential oils.
Haha, I do not always have answers! I know my way around a thing or two, but I keep my mouth shut and my ears open for everything else. ;)
Yes, I have a recipe for my body butter. It's super easy to make and way, way cheaper than buying lotions. I probably give away about half of what I make and still break even or better.
Here's the recipe. Nowadays, I keep it extra simple and usually leave out all the ingredients other than the vegetable butters and the oils (often herb infused oils). I used to put GSE in to protect against rancidity, but I don't think it's necessary, especially if you keep your overstock refrigerated. I also leave out the lanolin and usually the essential oils so that the product can be somewhat hypoallergenic (though some people are allergic to certain vegetable butters, especially shea and mango butters; alternatives include avocado butter and cocoa butter
( ... )
I wouldn't add them to lotion but then, I don't use lotion because I have eczema.
I occasionally add a couple drops of tea tree to a bath and I use sweet almond oil and jojoba oil in the bath instead of soap.
But for moisturiser I use either Eucerin (which I know isn't natural but it helps) or one of the Dr. Organic moisturisers.. I like the Manuka Honey one. They're paraben and petroleum free I think but probably not 100% "natural".
I could be wrong, and i'm not sure if my two scents even counts at this point BUT on the contrary i have heard that essential oils directly applied to the skin and other various ways is actually quite harmful.... lets see if i can google something quick and find something to back this up.
i think it'll say that there's some grey areas and some might be o.k. but i have read multiple times that lavender and mint, orange and stronger scents alike i imagine are pretty tough on the skin.
